As someone else mentioned earlier, there is likely another problem here. If Rob's car is pinging, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the tune as all the FIST tunes I've seen (around 8) are on the rich side - never lean. Maybe the pump is failing??? I'm no expert - he'll need to take it back to get checked.

Rob, did the injectors go in when the tune was done or did someone else fit them?

I feel for ya mate. I've had my fair share of prob's getting to where I am now - including my car being of the road atm with a busted convertor - but IMO the end result has been worth it. I've now got one of the quickest BA's in QLD and lovin' every minute of it - when it's on the road. :spoton:

I am only sitting at 241rwkw, I would have thought I would be fine at this stage.

Do I need to have it retuned? Do I sell it? I had better luck with my Hyundai!

Any suggestions would help.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues. The first port of call should be to take the car back and eliminate all the factors which may be causing the problem.

This could be several things, including the tune but get it checked ASAP.

For instance, have you fuelled the car up since then?

Stock BA MkII manuals are getting 260-270rwkw with a tune only, stock exhaust and injectors. From memory I achieved 285-290rwkw with the stock cat with bigger injectors and intercooler.

Do you have any dyno sheets you can show?

When I started doing mods a bit over 2 years ago, everyone was saying change the cat first as it was only good for about 250-260. I stand corrected - obviously times have changed. Are there really "heaps" of guys with AUTO's running over 260 with the std cat? Stick your hands up.

Also, he mentioned at the time, lifters were the limmiting factor. These have been done.

yer but that was a manual dude, autos will always fall around 20 rwkw less.

The highest I have ever gotton from an XR is 271 with stock cat, the highest from an F6 is 285 with stock cat. Never have I said 300 rwkw's will be achievable with a stock cat.

Mels car wouldnt go over 252 rwkw's with the stock cat.

I have made 350 rwkw's with a stock exhaust but cat and dump mod on my F6.
