Just keep up the good work Al, I'm just one of many who are very happy with your service and tuning ability and know the hours that you and your team have put into the ute at no charge just to sort out a problem :tease::tease::gooff:

Alistair and the boys stuck with me when I had a issue with my car not making anymore than 9 psi and 240rwkw.It ended up being my stock cat and the actuator that was causing these problems. As soon as work was completed it made 294rwkw on 12 psi and running rich as.

I agree with everything Alistair has said and judging by the QLD crew,He has our full backing. :tease:

Personally I think jumping on here and running off a thread like this doesn't do anyone any favours.

This type of thing isn't going to improve your relationship with them at all.

Talk to your tuner first and get the issue looked at.

Get a second opinion if you want.

Either way it will be more productive than this.

Just my 2 cents.

Absolutely. Forum-ites can only guess based on what you've said. Take it to someone in the know. IMHO FIST are in the know and have always helped me out when I've struck trouble - none of which has been their doing either.

On that note, after getting to know Von (been at FIST quite a bit over the last year trying to sort my own issues), I can tell you that he will NEVER tune a car lean. I've seen quite a number of cars tuned there in that time and they've all been on the rich side. It must also be noted that FIST have produced some of the quickest and biggest HP XR6T's in QLD.

Let me start by saying, I do know what pinging is (actually pinking) and what I hear is deffinately pinging. This may be caused by a lack of fuel as it doesn't seem to be load related.

I wanted to try another bach of fuel so I can rule out fuel ron issues. The day I drove the car out of FIST it performed VERY well. It still does on occasions and it is this intermitent performance that worries me. Maybe my car needs to be looked at again as there is something amiss!

As much as I beleive there are great tuners out there, don't be quick to dismiss the owners of the cars opinions either, some people know what they are talking about but don't like to flaunt it for whatever reason. I have known some tuners that have started a shop just by 'reading the instruction book'!

FIST have tuned many cars, many being XR6T's and as such, I would assume they know what they are doing. True, maybe they haven't had to deal with 'problem' cars like this, but they have put in time to help my cause. The car did pick up 40rwkw's after the last tune!

I have sometimes wondered whether people are being nice to a tuner because they are the only tuner within a close range and they cannot upset the tuner of fear of not having anywhere to go when things go wrong. If this is the case, we will see in the near future how things go now that Herrod have moved in on the Gold Coast!

I beleive in voicing my opinion no matter what the outcome, if you get satisfaction, tell everyone, if you have frustrations, tell everyone. It only gives the tuner good advertising if you can come back and say 'they fixed the problems for me'.

I'm sure I will be back at FIST shortly, the guys will do their best to sort the car. If I have no luck, maybe I will try another tuner without any additional mods and see what happens. If I took the car elswhere and they got me 280rwkw and a smooth running car (all the time) I would be a bit pi$$ed at FIST, but I am sure there are problems with the car that need to be sorted first.

Whatever the outcome with my car and my tuner, I will publish it on these forums, that's what they are for! If it praises FIST, great, if I have a load of problems with them, well sorry, but that's just my experiences.

Thank you all for your input and keep watching as I will post my outcome on this thread.

If you read the post properly, I actually praise FIST for getting the extra 40rwkw out of the car.

Asking for suggestions on a forum is what a forum is all about. Getting a second opinion in a place where tuners are scarse is exactly the reason we post threads like this!

It's actually good to hear people opinions and suggestions. Sometimes when we are frustrated with our cars we tent to forget the smaller things to look for. These threads remind us!

Anyway, I will be speaking to my tuner and reposting. And I will post this type of thread in the future as it helps people out.

I can tell you that is definately not the case with me. It's a major pain in the ar$e for me to travel to Wacol from Thornlands.

I moved to FIST from another tuner that I was less than happy with. I totally understand where you're coming from Rob.

There are quite a few options in SE QLD if you feel the need to try someone else. Personally, I'm not sure I'd go with Herrods though.

I too live 35 mins from FIST and much rather have them work on it than other tuning houses.
