Best yoot I have ever owned (except the auto blowing up). Heaps of room inside. I have a question for you, is this your only car? if no, then it aint the best choice for work if yes, then its perfect, it cruises way better than the nolux or rodeo. Fuel round town will be expensive but on the hyway will be better. If your a chippy, how are you fitting racks with the hard lid? Im seriously considering putting an alloy tray on mine, I have been waiting to be hit up the arse but it just wont happen, so it looks like I will have to pay. If your towing a trailer (prob not cause you have a GSR) the auto is the pick. The tub is quite small (in comparison to an alloy tray) but any of my sh*t goes on the racks. Get some seat covers, dont know whats wrong with the fabric but my drivers seat is almost f*cked in 12 months, and I make sure im clean before I get in so go figure. Get the fat steering wheel its great. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/24089-xr-info/page/2/#findComment-360411 Share on other sites

With a new airbox, exhaust and tune they can run mid 13's. Could carry more in the back and tow better than an XR.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I have considered that but if i dont like the look of it too high. I'd rather buy a 4WD at least they look good the higher they get.Thats why i'm concerned with a lowered XR.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Highly untapped market there, imagine all the bush pigs that'd be gettin round with an XR derivative RTV - sports model....Edit:....do mud-terrains come in 20's..... :w00t: Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/24089-xr-info/page/2/#findComment-360439 Share on other sites

I don't go driving in ruts or anything. I know my limits.I mean if the XR is too low (and I have to lower it if I get one) can I still be relatively close to the job site most times. I only do domestic so I can't see to many issues with this but I need to hear it from guys who have been in the situation.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Maybe there's something that I don't understand, but why does the ute "have to" be lowered. I've driven in an XR8 and a Pursuit (but not a T) that were not lowered and felt pretty good....Is the mandatory lowering required to lower centre of gravity and this indirectly increase corner speed? or is the idea to stiffen rather than lower or is the lower for cosmetic considerations.(I guess I'm too much the engineer/nerd) Edited 17/03/06 01:19 AM by Mildman Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/24089-xr-info/page/2/#findComment-360632 Share on other sites

Get the fat steering wheel its great.I'm keeping the lancer that's my toy for the weekends. The ute will be purely for work with the occasional cruise with all you boys. I do realise it will scrape but as long as things won't fall off I'm ok with some minor damage(scratches).I currently fill up the lancer with all the tools which brings the ride height wayyy to low. Looks awesome but it's not good for the car. Otherwise I use the sh*tty work ute if I need the trailer but that aint the most reliable thing.I was pretty keen on getting the T until today one of the brickies pulls up in the latest model black SR5 Hilux T deisel. Looked so nice too. He reckons the thing fly's and hasnt had a problem since he bought it.They are pricey though 50 grand. Might as well buy a tornado for that price..... hmm now theres an idea.Damn you see my promlem now!Ill have to take them all for a test drive and see which one a like the best.
