Hi people,

I have a problem with my handbrake. When pulled fully on it is near verticle and aint doin too much. Is this a warranty fix, or will it end up costing me at ford??? Also if it is going to cost me, is there any way that I can fix it at home instead of taking it to the dealer?? Thanks

Steve

If your car is still under warranty, I'd take it in and see what they say. The service guy might actually say he's seen it before and can give you an idea if it is a warranty repair or a payable repair.

I had my handbrake readjusted and the dreaded whoosh whoosh noise came back...took it back and had it backed off...rather no handbrake than listening to that noise

Same deal, I haven't had a handbrake for 2 1/2 years.

Things may have changed however in my case once the car had passed 3000klm ford service wanted to charge me $90 to fix it (for 2 days) as it was classed as an "adjustment"

I got the same problem with mine. It just needs to be adjusted. I still havent had it done yet, but apparently people from here have told me that's its not covered under warranty but that its not that expensive to fix up either.

Just a crappy designed by ford which means it has to be adjusted often.

Shop around people, I got mine adjusted by my dealer for about $45... I would rather have a handbrake than have the engine hold the car in place
