Need help !! Urgent !!

My 2003 XR6 turbo has a blown turbo, Ford will not honour the warranty as usual !...that's another story....just never go to Jefferson ford !

Strapp ford are quoting $5,260 for a brand new unit, or $3,730 for a rebuilt one.

I need to get me wheels back so I can get it sold asap as everything is falling to pieces on it !

Can any one tell me what I should be paying for a rebuilt turbo, and what company in Victoria would do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

RAY

To all that asked.

I have done nothing to it, the car is a complete sh*t box....& I haven't got enough room on this page to describe or explain the issues. It has everything except the motor replaced.

Because it has had in excess of 23 warranty claims and about 8 of them were around the 30,000 k mark, I assumed that the 30 K service was done....simply casue I was in their bloody work shop so much...and course they didn't tell me it wasn't.

Anyway at 45k's the turbo started making a funny sound so I asked them to look at it when they did the 45 K service. They said the turbo is rooted and will cost 5K for a new one. Ford then also informed me becuase I neglected to have the 30K service done that they would not honour the warranty.

I have yelled and written to everyone even Tom Gorman the president...but they simply say bad luck.

Ford...NEVER EVER AGAIN !

Sorry to hear that dude, sounds like they have really fcuked you over :spoton:

I guess this is why I always check the book and get them to stamp and sign it when its in for service. Dont want anything to bite me on the bum later. There really is a big variety of differences in these cars with everything from complete and utter lemons to cars that have had nothing replaced at all... although I'm sure the latter is fairly rare.

I hope you can get it sorted, and better luck with your next car. All I can say is dont be deterred! There are enough good experiences here to warrant a return purchase.

Thanks,

I have been quoted 1.5K at worst to rebuild it and then installation & removal, so will probably let that one go....but thanks for looking into it for me.

Cheers

PS....perhaps I should buy it as a spare....just joking

Why have some turbos failed? :banghead: Must be more than faulty turbo.Could it be that the engine oil was not changed at the required time therefore stuffing the bearings or running the turbo hard and not letting it run down before turning off.

What do u guys reckon
