chipa_12 Member 182 Member For: 19y 4m 11d Location: Canberra Posted 06/03/06 03:02 AM Share Posted 06/03/06 03:02 AM had my car for a few weeks and noticed today when I parked it on a hill that the car started to roll (a little) with the parking brake engaged. I had to pull it up even more higher, and when the I placed gears in "P" it stopped rolling. I am assuming that the parking brake just needs tightening. Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty? The next service for the car is not until another 10k, kms and obviously I cant wait that long until I get the parking brake fixed.. . but its just that I am being a tight for a few weeks.. even if its not under warranty, would it cost me a lot to get done? You'd better get your dealer to ring mine and tell them that! If the handbook doesn't recommend it then it probably won't get done. The wheels could be falling off but that's not in the handbook for the 40,000km service...[patronising voice]"What's that, you are paying for that sir, maybe would you like us to check every other nut & bolt on the car while we are at it and perhaps we could rebuild the motor, gearbox and diff while we have the car here."" Yes sir, I know there doesn't appear to be any problems with the motor, gearbox and diff, this rebuild is just a precautionary measure, you can't be too careful you know, safety first and all that.""OK then, no need to shout sir, we will just adjust the handbrake and nothing else then, is it still OK if we keep the car for 8 hours, that won't inconvenience you at all will it sir?"
