I Just bought a new 2006 GT and am paying $480 a year, I am 33.

Whereabouts do you live? I've found that seems to be making a big difference too.

That is just outrageous!! Do you have a real bad driving history or something?? Could it be because where you live??

When I bought my car (BA Fairmont) and got quotes for insurance, the annual premium for a BA XR6 (NA) was about $200 more. I am turning 23, have full NCB and the Fairmont is insured for $28800 and the annual premium with RAC in WA is around $580.

I have a near-perfect driving record & until December 2005, I hadn't been booked for over 6 years, with one fine the only blemish on my record. I have a Rating 1. It must be a lot to do with where I live but I don't understand the rest. I'm going to call the NRMA today and see if they can give me some sort of an explanation as no-one else pays anything near what I do.

I have read the previous posts regarding insurance premiums and I'm a little surprised by some!

Having just purchased an 03 xr6t utility I was asked by the NRMA for $922 for $26k cover (after multi policy discounts etc) with 65% max no claim bonus for life, 51 years old, country NSW no accidents no suspensions etc you know, the insurance companies best customer.

After reading about justcar insurance I was quoted online $1,896 with the same details! Who's playing with who? Sydney suburbs will skew the premiums somewhat, but if anyones premium is much less than mine for CORRECT INFO, I would like to know so I can quote from their company.

About $600.00 here for an 03 T ute, 26 years old, inner north Brisbane. That's on Rating 1 with AAMI. So yeah, something not right there :msm:

And welcome to the nuthouse BTW

I recently got a ba xr6 n/a insured with RACV and they quoted me at 1700 and that's for me (18 year old driver) with excess of 800. when I was ringing around for quotes AAMI are able to drop the price of the insurance but as a consequence you get a higher excess rate.

I am 28yo and tried to get insurance with AAMI (live in Ferntree Gully about 30 mins from Melbourne) and they denied insurance to me as I wasn't 30yo, saying that they WON'T insure an XR6T with ANYONE under 30 driving it... seems to be different from what I have heard here... before this I did an 'online quote' with AAMI before I bought my T and had entered all of my details and that of the car I was going to buy and got all the way to the pay screen but stopped as I hadn't bought my car yet so was only looking for quotes, I then kept the 'online quote' number from the net and called once I had bought my T and I then quoted that number to the guy on the phone when I rang up to get my insurance and the customer service guy on the phone told me that AAMI won't insure me as I am not over 30yo... he said you need to try Just Cars... he then hung on me and transferred me to Just Cars...

For the record AAMI were about 75% of the premium that Just Cars offered me (and then reneged (sp?) on) which is about $1150 a year...

Why? How come some of you boys have been able to insure with AAMI but are all younger than me? I have no accident history and am Rating 1?

Jack :spoton:
