I'm Sick Of Paying So Much

Before I even start... I've searched "insurance" and found about one billion results so I'm sorry if this has been covered before!

It was a lovely winters day on the 30th of July 2003 when I took delivery of my shiny new XR6 N/A sedan. Why didn't I buy a Turbo? Because I knew I'd drive it for what it was and would either lose my license, kill myself or both. So I spent the extra on optioning the crap out of my N/A...

- 18's

- Alarm

- Floor mats (heh)

- LSD

- Momo Shifter

- Premium Sound

- Rear Power Windows

- Sports Steering Wheel

- Sunroof

- Tints

...and of course, the plates.

At the time, the insurance was pretty steep. I can't remember the exact dollar value but I thought "OK, I'm 22, it's insured for business use and financed" so I copped it sweet.

Now here I am two and a half years down the track and I've just received my latest policy in the mail from the NRMA. I thought things might have changed a bit but it's still pretty woeful. Here's how it stands:

- 65% "No Claim Discount for Life"

- Hire Car Cover Option

- Windscreen Option (no basic excess for glass damage)

- Agreed Value of $33,350

The cost?

$2970.77/pa / $259.13/pm :spoton:

That hurts!

What are other people paying? Am I alone? Am I being ripped off? Have I broken any rules with this post? (I hope not!) I know the premium is also based on where the vehicle is registered and it did go up almost $500/pa when I moved last year but it's still pretty expensive.

Do AAMI give you a choice of repairer option?

Turning 25 changes things heaps.

When I brought my XR6T I was 23 and insurance was hard to find. Once I turned 25 alot more companies were willing to insure me.

They have bent you over :spoton: and given it to you hard. Shop around there must be a much better deal than that. :construction:
