Well went to the drags tonight in My F6, turned it up to 400 rwkw's and did 2 passes easing up on the launches,

first was 2.27 60 ft 12.4 @ 123.8 mph

second was 2.26 60 ft 12.3 @ 124 mph

On the third run I decided to give it a bit off the line......... It wasnt ment to be. F6 is now sporting a new smashed uni on the passenger side drive shaft

maybe next time.

Bad luck Simon, that's a great MPH. I think it would set a record for the highest MPH in a manual. I broke CV's @3400rpm and you've broken yours @3500rpm I'd say that on a good launch with good traction 3200-3300rpm looks like the limit of the CV's.

Once you get the CV'c repaired you definately have enough MPH to get an 11sec pass.

Great stuff.

Geea.

Good run Simon.

What tyres were you using?

As for CVs they'll just keep breaking. They don't like big power/harsh treatment.

Nizpro built a stage 1 CV upgrade that replaces the CV cage, which typically explodes, as it's the main weakness. There is a stage 2 CV upgrade, that I'm still waiting on, details of which will be posted when completed. You'll probably need that when you go over 500rwkw.

Mph is looking good there Simon, I supose the cv's get a hiding each gear change, are you happy with how the car performed other then the cv's?

Brian I tried those MT street radials. I launched pretty soft for this exact reason but I really wanted an 11 so I figured I would go for it..... didnt pay off. :crybaby:

Blue the launching isnt really affected with the cams its just the power that makes it hard in general, not enough throttle like on the first 2 and it bogs...... 2 much power where you dont get that little lull and you break stuff

DBOSS thanks mate, im sure when we get something in the rear that doesnt break you will see manuals running into the 10's...... I think a ute will have alot better chance.

Nice mph.

I know going into 5th must cost a little time, but have you considered, with your new engine setup:

Getting some taller tyres

Extending your rev limit ( when run-in )

Swapping out your diff ratio to a 3.43 from an XR6T, like the one sitting next to yours in the driveway?

So you don't have to go to 5th?

I assume with the port work and cams, combined with the strong bottom end it would sustain over 7000rpm easily and you could tune it to make power up there and negate the need for the last shift?

You have the power to get over the taller gearing.

This is the benifit of being able to tune the car yourself.

you can detune your power under 4000rpm, so you can do a good clean 60ft, and the last part of the 60ft is helped by the extra power that comes in (tuned to be smooth transition) and then the rest of the run you are on the big power level, because the rev's don't drop down that far from then on.

if your car can pull the same 60ft that we done on the mt's in the typhoon,(with your small tune in it) and then finish with the one you have, the end result will be smiles.

this also helps your cv's when you entre the next gear, you can just soften the power a bit at this spot, and will protect your driveline.

I know it seems like you are wasting power by doing this, but your efforts can be rewarded if you get it setup right.

this is also why Spiro has struggled so far to run the times he wants yet. only just having enough power can be a lot easier to run the times like Adam did, then to have a 8 sec potenial car but the power so explosive it can struggle to run the 9 sec times.

Hope this helps

David
