Anyway - all replicas are Trannys by your definitions.  PS Dboss - You are like the new Geeseman - you go on about Trannys all the time, like you say he did about Piggy Backs.  I think we get the message, just not everyone agrees.

Get a grip ,the whole tranny thread was all about taking the piss(in a fun way) of a couple of members as a little bit of :pooh: stirring and having a talking point that we can all laugh about yet you want to turn it into personal slinging :wtf: Alot of my friends on the site from syd and melb have GT bonnet's,bars and stripes on there cars but they know im just having a bit of fun on the forum :wtf: As for your Geesman comment theres only one goose but your a very close 2nd ya :fool::blink:

Replica=A copy of an original car

Tranny=An original car made to look like a different car :stirthepot::blink:

And the AC Cobra is my all time favorite muscle car but im a ford man and would'nt have anything but a ford to pwr it :msm:

Yeh - Jaguar people wouldnt like that Idea - though Ford does own them dont they?

I cant think of a sports car that would be better to have the XR6T motor though.

Jag motors are lovely, smooth and can be made to honk along - but costs heaps to do it.  (my dad has a Mk2 Jag 3.8 race car).

Maybe not the XR6T motor but a Nizpro kitted Barra 190. I think they're cranking out 270kw of crackling 6 now! That could grace a C or a D type I think, maybe even a modern XKSS :stirthepot:

Lumpy

Ok - well , I guess that does make a difference, if you are just having fun. Its just I had seen a lot of comments re:Tranny this and that lately - was starting to wonder. If that is so - my apologies then. PS - I did realise the goose comment would wind you up - he has become almost a way of insulting someone obviously.

I agree with the Ford in a Cobra statement myself, mostly. I bought the car as a circuit car with lots of power and reliability. The fact that it was a Chev wasnt a big issue for me. If I had lots of money - Id love an aluminium Ford motor.

The two best Ford powered Cobra's I have seen would have to be Bill Cosby's Twin Paxton Supercharged Big Block or one that has a SOHC427 with twin 4 barrels!

I reckon a C type Jaguar replica with a XR6T motor would be the way to go with the inline 6 idea.

:pooh:

:pooh:

Just when I was begining to like you too!

The XK's aren't THAT bad to rebuild..

They just look lovely with the polished rocker covers, multiple cabies and those porcelin coated exhausts on the other side....

DBOSS the new Geeseman  Ever done any fly fishing, I think he's taken the fly and stripped down to the backing!

Is there any difference between the 289 and 427 in terms of body shape / looks or are they the same?

The 289 body style doesnt have the big flared guards on the front, and the rear guards dont come out as far. Also, the 289 doesnt have the inlet for the oil cooler under the front opening. 289s didnt have the bonnet opening either. Some people like the 289 style more - less over the top.

A 427 road car wouldnt normally have a bonnet scoop or sidepipes.

A 427SC (street competition) had the sidepipes and bonnet scoop, and normally stripes. Most replicas are like the 427SC. People will put any size motor into these as a rule. Technically a 289 in this body style is wrong (and yes a Chev or Mopar motor), as are 429s 460s etc. A real Cobra would have had a 427 or 428 FE motor.

My car is a replica of a 427R - same as a 427SC, except no windscreen, and had an aeroscreen instead.

Just to confuse things you can also have a 289 LeMans (that name could be wrong), they made some slightly different bodies to allow for bigger wheels (has cut back doors) and better cooling. Basically a 289 that has been changed slightly.

Also, you can get a hardtop:

A Lemans Hartop:

And then you can have a Daytona Coupe, which is a body designed to take on Ferrarri for higher top speeds at European races:

Great post cobra

These are my all time favorite car, I saw a hard top one not to long ago and it just didn't look right!?!

That last photo almost looks like an old Nissan 360Z (Think that's what they were) with the head lights

Thanks mate.

Yep - mine too. I have had a lot of fun with my car, have never once regretted owning it, or thought of selling it, other than once, I vaguely thought I could buy a streetable GT40 replica instead, as I could use it more often.

PS - there is also a soft top available - they look funny too - couldnt find any photos - probably as they just dont look right.

The Lemans hardtop I had considered, as I used to race at an airfield where I was hitting 190 odd mph, and I wanted to go over 200. In the end I made a flat bottom panel for the car, and ended up making an aluminium cover for the passengers side.

Also as my body can unclip (front and back), I thought about having a Daytona Coupe body to clip on - but that is a big expense away!
