The best time I have on stocko tyres is 12.3.

I still firmly believe I could get an 11 as is, I really do.

So, to that end, I am going to try again in about 10 days. :spoton:

Craig,

2. gearing: with a T56 & 3.73 diff you have a top speed in 4th of around 112mph at 5800 revs, so with 370rwkw you need to shift into 5th. 4-5 gear change is not a fast shift. With my 1 experience at WSID shifting into 5th at around 350m I found that given the time to change gear my speed didn't really increase in the last 50 metres.

I'm crossing the line at 118.11mph at the moment, with 275/30/19 tyres. These tyres have within 5mm rolling diameter of the stock XR6T tyres. I haven't hit the rev limiter yet, although it is set at 6200rpm. This is in 4th gear, with the factory 3.73 diff ratio and 6-speed manual.

I'll be running taller tyres to bring my rpm down and mph up while still remaining in 4th gear.

As mentioned a quick shift takes around .3 - .5 seconds. I've tried shifting to 5th several times, and although the mph remains the same (118) the ET drops by around .6 (13.4 vs 12.84).

my best mph (at about the same et of 12.3) is 119MPH and this is in 4th gear. It is revving its *beep* off. I did not try anything different at the track that night.

Maybe start in 2nd and then do a 3rd to a 5th gear change????????????

The torque is there.

On good tyres at a decent track, a 2nd gear launch is out of the question.

POWER is not the answer.

Too many people are trying to go fast with powerfull Manuals, beit F6 or XR.

As the old saying goes, if it still doesn't work, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

This is why I mentioned gearing and revlimit to Extreme. He has bucket loads of power. Too much imo for dragging a manual, but if the power band is extended ( shouldn't be hard to tune in ) to ~7000rpm, theres a good chance of easy 11's..

Traction and gearing.. 3.43's and tall tyres will grab an 11.

10's in a 6spd with standard rear........ well, credit to the guy who pedals that thing..

It’s all about mile per hour, I would be happy in knowing my car runs a lazy 12.3 if it can’t crack a solid 125 Mph.

When and only when someone gets really serious about cracking some good numbers with a manual, then you will see some times. EG: Increased RPM, or diff ratio change, slicks, rip shift and a lightened car.

Until then it is fair to say that a 400 odd RWKW manual XR6T or Phoony is capable of anything from 12.5 to 11.99 not much faster.

Your thoughts?

I have been to the drags once so let me preface this by saying that I am a very long way from an expert.

Fast mph does not equate to a good ET, although a good ET is likely to have a reasonable mph.

Logically, the key for a good ET is the amount of time moving slowly - hence the importance of a good launch, and in decreasing importance gear changes 1- 2, 2- 3, 3 - 4.

I ran 13.5 with a car that was probably only producing around 235 - 240rwkw and felt very very slow, with a 60ft of 2.4s.

I realise more power = better control required on launch, but this will be the key to good times.

Still learning, but I suspect I might have a few more cracks at dropping this down, and would expect to easily get into the 12's in full street trim with the car fixed so that I have some boost. I might even get a little more serious and take the deck chairs and esky out of the boot... :spoton:

Cheers,

Ben.
