It's far easier said than done, and the odds are against you.

I assume that you're talking MT's, not typical street tyres.

You have 3 major things working against you:

1. slow gear changes:: assuming T56 you can't really change quick enough (for my liking). RIP shift may help a lot.

2. gearing: with a T56 & 3.73 diff you have a top speed in 4th of around 112mph at 5800 revs, so with 370rwkw you need to shift into 5th. 4-5 gear change is not a fast shift. With my 1 experience at WSID shifting into 5th at around 350m I found that given the time to change gear my speed didn't really increase in the last 50 metres. A 3.46 diff would give an extra 8mph over a 3.73 diff at 5800 revs in 4th.

3. low stock rev limit of 5800 revs: especially the impact of how fast you can go in 4th: increasing rev limit is really only useful if you are still generating good power, and better with modified turbo and cams. Another 1200 revs (say to 7000) would give another 16mph capability in 4th.

1st runs down the quarter in a manuel f6, (a person that has hardly run at the drags before) and he was pulling 1.89 60fts

with m/t's ,standed clutch,

detune the power under 4000rpm so you can leave the line doing a 1.8 60ft then let the power do the rest.

put that 60ft in front of your time you have already got and it will show a 11 sec run.

At the moment the hard limit is at 6200rpm - but if I get serious in chasing this then this will lift to about 6500 - 6800rpm with some additional go which will require new rods in the motor as a minimum.

First step is to get the right clutch in the car - my launches are slow with little capacity to slip the existing organic unit I have limiting flexibility and ability to practice this.

Immediately my target is mid 12's, then we will see from there...

All correct,

I figure that if I do some work on the engine I would be looking at a capacity of nearly 140mph in fourth with the 3.46 diff @6800rpm.

I'm assuming a 3.73 diff is not standard? as I can easily do 190KM in 4th...

I also hear what Brian's saying and agree, it will be hard. Yes I'd wan't to be using MT's. Without them forget it.
