Update On Quickest Manual Xr6t?

I would build a 11sec XR6t manual but anyone can drive in a straight line, fast is a different story but I prefer circuit skills, drifting and such. that's where skill is.

But I would like to see a bloody fast xr6t manual anyway, coz I own one (not bloody fast though but enough for now) :P

That's the thing.. I prefer circut work aswell.. I've run mine around Wanneroo in 1.09 in the wet on road rubber. anything uner 1.00 in the dry is considered VERY good from anything, and I'll venture out on the next dry outing..

Regardless, a good time from circut or 1/4 mile is not only contributed to power, it's driver ability aswell as car setup.

And no, not anyone can drive in a straight line.. otherwise there would be more than 2 cars running 11's. :spoton:

I agree, and my own lack of ability - or perhaps as well not being prepared to completely drive the car like I hate it is undoubtedly slowing me down - significantly.

In effect, my changes are about .4 - .5 of a second typically (looking at the G-tech results at the impact of the change - the actual shift of the lever is a little bit quicker) - given 3 changes down the 1/4 this is about 1.5 secs where the car is not accelerating - this is much slower than some of the good drivers like F6 ute are managing (based on the vids posted some time ago) but goes to illustrate one of the reasons why the manuals are so much slower, and have lower mph than the autos. I is hard to belt these things through the gears really fast and those of us who are not really really good with quick gear changes are coasting for about 10+% of the time it takes to get down the 1/4.

Anyway, I am likely to be about 6 weeks from getting the car back with the bigger turbo and engine etc - so in maybe 2 - 3 months I intend go to Calder and try to get a sedan into the 11's. Dependant on the rear end holding up, I will probably just try sneak into 11's - then push for better once I have a stronger rear in the car - probably with Simon from Nizpro or someone else driving the thing to give me a target...

Hopefully the power I am running will help compensate for the poor gear changes. I am gunning for you Ben - now I just need to make a final decision on what clutch to run... :banghead:

I believe the quickest manual is still a 12.2

I could be wrong though

It's far easier said than done, and the odds are against you.

I assume that you're talking MT's, not typical street tyres.

You have 3 major things working against you:

1. slow gear changes:: assuming T56 you can't really change quick enough (for my liking). RIP shift may help a lot.

2. gearing: with a T56 & 3.73 diff you have a top speed in 4th of around 112mph at 5800 revs, so with 370rwkw you need to shift into 5th. 4-5 gear change is not a fast shift. With my 1 experience at WSID shifting into 5th at around 350m I found that given the time to change gear my speed didn't really increase in the last 50 metres. A 3.46 diff would give an extra 8mph over a 3.73 diff at 5800 revs in 4th.

3. low stock rev limit of 5800 revs: especially the impact of how fast you can go in 4th: increasing rev limit is really only useful if you are still generating good power, and better with modified turbo and cams. Another 1200 revs (say to 7000) would give another 16mph capability in 4th.

I must have done well on stock tyres. Standard shifter and 317 rwkw to run a 12.8 @ 112 mph. How I managed a 1.9 60 ft is a miracle! lol but it is fact.
