Too much browser refreshing going on. Can we start an appeal and raise some cash for a nice Java chat room that doesn't refresh every couple of seconds?Did I mention what a good site this was? DallasQLD Lifetime Members 1,197 Member For: 22y 29d Gender: Male Location: Albany Creek QLD Posted 01/05/03 08:45 AM Share Posted 01/05/03 08:45 AM I think the site has been great. As a longer member, I see a lot of new members coming on with the same questions we did earlier. I think a FAQ page would really help and this would save on new posts and topics which have been covered before. With nearly 20,000 posts now the site has just about covered every inch of the car and that has been fun, the real challenge now is to keep longer term members interested in staying in the Forum. Does 1000+ members give us any marketing clout?. I reckon it does. I think we could easily get a Forum discount card for use at Frod dealers and other outlets and it could be provided to donating members. On that topic I think we should have full membership and associate membership based upon a fee to help with the admin of the site. Its expensive to run a site like this and if its to continue and the owners are not to loose interest then they must get paid to cover costs at the very least. I have got my donations worth and more. As a collective, this forum in my view contains more information than Ford on the car and that is evident every time someone gets their car serviced. well start the flame gun..... my 2.2 c worth inc GST

(could contain common/known problems, specifications, new car wait times etc.)- Another feature that could be good would be an area with tech writeups, ie. power window illumination, footwell lights etc. this will save people asking about these and having to find them within the forum.Just my 2c worth! How you do this l have no idea, but keeping the forum an open, friendly sort of place will go a long way to acheiving this aim. l participate in several forums relating to interests other than cars, and this is by far the most friendly and well moderated forum. Full marks to Chris and all others involved Long live fORDXR6TURBO.COM :D

I am also working on a FAQ page for the photo gallery to aid in people uploading photos and the like. The Tech Section is an idea, and will be thought about. I agree its a great idea. I think as well to maybe incorporate this Tech Section for donating members only. So it will give people an incentive to donate, and help better the site.Mark all Posts as Read - I will look into moving it. I think it should be up the top as well. Im regards to the differences between the two, View all new posts are the actual posts, so the people responding to a thread is considered a post. View new Topics is the actual thread name itself. Note: tried to do this, this morning but it just doesnt look right. May just leave it at the bottom for the time being. Looks too cluttered up the top with adding that.Active Today: The active today list cannot be hidden. Its either viewable or not. I think its a good idea as it shows how active the forum is. It only appears on the front page in any case.Pics in post: This shouldnt be an issue anymore. Before the image would show up with the load of the page. Now we have changed it so that you have to click on the attachment to view. This saves bandwidth for dialup users as every image does not load on a page refresh. This however cannot be done for the photo gallery. You can load the thumbnail image page by going through the "photo gallery", and then select the image to view. All main images have been set to 800x600 anything larger then that has a "View Full Image" link which you can click on to bring the image to the resolution it was posted at. This also is to prevent against excess bandwidth to dialup users.
