Hi All, Was at local Ford dealer yesterday and noted a new XR8 Boss 260 fitted with Typhoon 2nd CAI. Was a brand new vehicle. Wonder if they are fitting them to all the XR range now ? :censored::gooff:

Hey guys.....

Excuse my ignorance.....

If you can drive a manual, then you can do this yourself. Not a real hard job.

The tips on moving the 2nd CAI out the way while you put the bolt back in are better for my money rather than chucking it.

I thought about not putting it back in, but then the whole airbox is only being held by the 2 bolts at the back. Too much movement for my liking.

Give it a go Nick. Do what I did & make a template out of cardboard first. Easier to play with & doesnt matter if you stuff it. Once you have that right, then just trace it onto your airbox.

I'm up for this mod, at first a bit worried about damaging something but looking at Kaines detailed post and great photos, it's not looking too bad.

So the parts quoted are for Typhoon = BA2T 9C676 A and for XR8 = BAF 9C676 B.

Just need to know if the BA2 (Typhoon) snorkel will slot into a BF, is this the one they use on the new BF Typhoon or should I be playing safe and choose the newer model number. Doubt there would be much difference, though it's interesting they have 2 different types.

Gave my old man the 2 part numbers at lunch time and asked him to get me a price.

BA2T9C676 (Typhoon) $66.07 Trade $81.50 Retail

BAF9C676B (XR8) $44.75 Trade $55.20 Retail

If your quoted any more than that, suggest to them that they could do it a bit cheaper.

After doing the run around with Ford, trying to get my hands on a BF-XR8/Typhoon intake, they all said the same thing - on backorder.

So settled for the BA2T one, the guy in spare parts wanted to ask a hundred questions about my purchase and said good luck when I told him I would be cutting out the opening (who's laughing now?)

At first I didn't think the snorkel would fit in the gap under the light, started to think my BF didn't leave enough room... with a bit of persistance and a few %^#&'s later, I got it in the right spot and proceeded to cut out the airbox.

Not hard at all, Kaine is a legend for a well documented and pictured mod which takes the pain out for all of us, thanks so much mate.

Well the result, took the T for a spin about 1am, very nice cool weather for the turbo and can I say, this mod has me more than impressed, the smile on my face says it all.

Comes on that bit quicker and seems to be breathing better.

Priced from the dealer Saturday lower CAI as part No. metioned above.

Apparently these two part numbers reference the same item.

ba2t 9c676 a = $150

baf 9c676 b = $70

Attached is the print out he gave me.

I ordered the $70 option, see what I get

Time to finally do some mods to my stock as BA Turbo...

I'm trying to find a typhoon or XR8 secondary air intake snorkel attached to the front of the air box.

It appears they are no longer available from Ford.  Does anyone know where these can be found nowadays?
