10 cars that could give a BF typhoon a hiding on the track...

Lets see the comparo then.... Find me 10 cars under 80k that would do this.....

And I have heard rumours the BF is to be replaced very, very soon...

Before the end of year, anyway.

Please note that "track" consists of curves/turn as normal road conditions would do. The F6 isnt that devasting in a straight line either due to FPV's weight policy. This would also then render the car pretty ineffective around bends and turns! You can't beat the law of physics.

My gripe is with other comments above condescending the vehicles in the contest without any basis, and placing the F6 on a pedestal for no valid reasons.

My apology for stating 10 cars in the previous post. But consider the following vehicles with comparable price in that Wheels contest that could cane the F6 around the track:

SS Commodore

HSV Clubsport R8

Evo 9

STi

350Z

RX8

Lotus Elise (a bit high on the price)

No offence people but the handling of a Typhoon is not that great... It is a heavy car and sure while it is quick in a straight line I don't think it'll be on par with a well driven WRX/Evo on a circuit. The R8 does handle better.

As said in prior post there has been a write up in Motor or Wheels(mite been PCOTY last year I dont remember) and the Fords were just no effective track cars. Having drivin a fair few cars over the years I personally think the handling of an XR6T could use alot of work :/

the typhoon I had for 1 day test drive handled pretty good for a car with 19ins, it stuck to the road.

And whats Expensive Daewoo got a chassis that's nearly 10 years old with those heavy rubbish doors.

On a recent cruise a certain Typhoon who shall remain nameless regularly saw the other side of 120kph (using 2nd and 3rd gear) through a very twistie mountain road. Doesn't handle too badly me thinks.

they know its to good and its in a class of its own..

4Litre Turbo

What more do you want.

I took it fast around corners and it handled the corners better than any wrx I have driven.

Now that's interesting... Any ideas of what would be replacing it and with what features? I take it that it is to pitch against the Expensive Daewoo VE due out in Sep 2006.

Around a track they are yes. Also the SV8 I think may be a better handler too.

stock on stock I doubt a SS or HSV would beat a F6 around a track.

The F6 has better brakes and suspension, as well as the torque for out of corner punch.

That said we know a EVO or STI or Lotus would cain most cars on a track, but try putting 5 adults + luggage in one. It would also come down to drivers and their ability.

Its all about the traffic light GP and in most situations the margin would be much closer.
