I heard that series2 xr6 turbo gets 280Kws standard & the 5spd auto

Sorry, power output is too high and gearbox config wrong

Sounds a good power figure for a particular model though, and yes series 2 roughly a yr off

The series 2 will get a BTR 6 speed auto. I live very close to the BTR factory and know a lot of people who have worked on the new boxes. They were planned for the Series 1 but reliability was an issue in testing with the power of the new engines.

hahaha sorry dude, its going to be the Jag 6 speed.

And it will NOT get 280kw. XR8 buyers are pissed off enough with the lack of performance, 280kw would just destroy them :D .

Was that just recently confirmed? The factory has been upgraded and taken on more employees as recently as a month ago.

is the XRT going to be discontinued ???

speaking with some mates the other day and we started to picture the BA range WITHOUT the XRT !!

the bang for bucks wasn't making sense as the range is now (as discussed everywhere by everyone at all times)

I hope they don't drop the XRT or any other model for that matter :oooh:

there was rumour that the utes/wagons would get IRS ... :oooh:

ok, my thoughts for series 2...

220BA models = 230kW with improved gearing

XR6T = 240kw- 250kW, however with new XR8 5 speed box. Auto will be the same as current.

XR8 + 270kw with improved torque spread and gearing.

GT + 300kw with improved gearing

Average weight reduction over the entire range will be around 50kg. V8 BOSS models may get alloy blocks. XR6T will have bonnet flutes and the name will be modified to XR6T rather than Turbo and come standard with 18". The XR8 will also come standard with 18".

Finally, the XR6T will increase in cost to around $48k.

alloy blocks for the V8s ... doubt it .. too expensive and the aussies lovvvve the cast iron reliability

still reckon the XRT or the XR8 will be dropped  at same future point ... they just doesn't fit in the range together

if the XRT stays, I agree with CDAA, a price hike !! more than the XR8 maybe :o

You have a good point BLKXRT but I don't think ford has much choice:

Can't see the 8 getting dropped, ever... To many Aussies think if it's not an 8 it's not worth owning, :oooh: and ford tried that before XE to XF. :nugget:

As for the T, surely with a 4 month waitlist that says something? ;) I think they got the T spot on for the target audience: 30 somethings who want technology and performance in an australian car. B)

well they certainly got me
