Hi, I own a XR6T Series 2 with Luxury Pack and am wanting to replace the handbrake with the leather type (like whats in the Fairmont Ghia). Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the original one and on how then to install the new leather type handbrake? If so, can that person please provide them to me.

Thanks inadvance.

To remove the old one, just pull the handbrake on and slide it upwards.

I expect you just do the reverse to put the new one on.

I would think it would be a 60sec job, but I have not done one myself, only removed my existing one.

I got the leather one as a warranty job at the 3K 'service' as that's all they had. Handbrake assembly has come adrift. Same thing has happened again and hoped they could do a quick fix when I went to get the bonnet catch release that was boken fixed (another common fault - 2 hour job). All I know is that I was told and my $0 warranty receipt mentions handbrake assembly repair to be done next visit $0 - but requires drivers seat removal to do it - so Ford reckon its a time consuming job......probably not though.... :censored:

They can't take my leather away though!

Ok I finally got myself a full leather handbrake. I believe the handbrake lever is held on by 3 bolts. I think I need to remove the front seat to get to the handbrake lever bolts. Can someone please provide a step by step instructions to remove the front seat - pics will also be good!?

Also, any info on removing the handbrake lever would also be good too!

Thanks.
