I myself cannot justify the extra, but that's mainly due to my own financial situation. I still can't justify even going and buying a second hand F6. If I was big on modification I wouldnt bother worrying about warranty anyway and work a T. You can get the same performance of an F6 for less $, hell you could even make it a tranny for less $. But then you would be one of the hunted lol

All the Phoon is - is an XR6T with:

- Stronger con rods

- Bigger intercooler

- Second Cold Air Intake

- Triple plate clutch

- More boost allowed by Computer (270kw instead of 240kw).

- Oil Cooler

- Different bodykit (not better - just different)

- Bigger brakes

- Bigger wheels

- Different trim (better than standard - maybe not as good as Custom Pack)

- Different badges

and...  the above is done by Ford/FPV instead of buying a car and changing it.  This gives the benefit of exclusivity and a factory warranty.

As you can see on this site, many people can make more power than 270kw reasonably easily from an XR6T- but often dont have stronger rods to protect the motor, and will usually have to replace the clutch (for manuals).

The Ford parts are probably not worth the extra 15 - 20k extra - but, if you want an improved factory standard car, or a better platform to start modding from and have the money to spend - then maybe it is worth the extra.

They seem to be selling well..... draw your own conclusions.

Is a Ferrari worth all that extra money?  It is called the law of diminishing returns.

perfect! this is exactly the type of info I was after. Thanks mate.

a few more that come to mind

Better valve springs

FPV Drive day

Premium roadside assistance

its only a twin plate clutch not triple

probably a few more so take a look at the FPV web site as it will list them all there.

Your welcome mate.

Comments:

Apparently Mk2 XR6Ts and BFs have the same valve springs as F6 now.

Side Air bags are optional on all - standard on luxury pack (I think).

Roof console/clock (wow)

FPV Drive day - good idea/ alternatives available as well.

Clutch - true - sorry - was thinking of my Cobra clutch.

if by lux pack, you are talking about the luxury interior option, I am pretty sure that this only includes Prem. Sound, Sports leather seats and Prem. ICC, no side airbags (altho as you say, they are still an option).

You don't like the start button? That's one of the main things which attracts me to consider an F6, (more for novelty value than anything else). What is it which you don't like about that?

(Like you, I think I'd De badge it as much as I can).

Adam,

I would go the phoon! That is what I would get if buying new - that or a GT and get HPF to twin turbo it!

Main three reasons for me would be:

Stonger engine internals means more power up to 370 - 380rwkw without opening the engine rather than 330rwkw on the XR6T.

Bigger brakes - especially with the brembo package standard on the phoons

clutch can handle a lot more power, and can be modded rather than replaced to go even higher.

Then their are the additional bits standard such as climate...

Still - sticking a manual in your car would cost heaps less...

Good luck whichever way you go!

Ben.

Do the math’s …….and taking into considerations all the options it’s cheaper to buy the F6.

Then when it comes time to sell the Optioned up XR6T it will just be another T and you will never get the money back on the options whereas the F6 has these STD so its re-sale will reflect the F6 not an XR6T so at the end of the day its ….a No Brainer ..

Why pay the same $ for an XR6T when you can have the F6?????

I’m sure you will appreciate it come re-sale time :spoton:

I mean if you have the cash to option up an XRT to that spec you must have the cash to buy an F6.
