Guys,

I know that this may have been done to death, but I am new to this forum and dont know how to drive it yet.

I have a number of questions that some of you may be able to help me with. I currently drive a vx ss which has been edited and a few other things. It goes quite well, but the other day I drove a mates XR6T ute and I am wrapped in its performace.

I was thinking of changing my car and getting one of these in a sedan. I dont know what to get either a manual or auto. I want to get one of the capa flash units.

1)How much will these flash units increase power?

2) Will the power increase damage the gearbox if its either a manual or auto?

3) Also what type of fuel econ can I expect?

Thanks

Welcome mate...

I swapped from a HSV Senator about 4 months ago... not looking back either...

1. Capa Flash (Edit) alone will net you about 250rwkw with a custom tune, the generic tunes not as much...

2. Custom edit shouldn't damage your gearbox but of course this depends on how you drive... you might need a new clutch in a manual... auto T's pound for pound are faster than the manual's...

3. Once again depends on how you drive, I have a manual (T5) T and get about 14L per 100k's to and from work and just around... far better on the highway... in the low to mid 9's per 100k's...

Get one you will love it!! I do... :msm:

Any more Q's?

Once you have seen the light, there's no turning back. I too am a convert, have not looked back. Best Damn machine I've ever owned :crybaby:

If you think the standard T's awsome, try driving a modded one :tease:

It doesn't take much to trick these cars up with just the edit alone. Add a few other bits and pieces if dollars are available, and you have yourself one mighty fast T.

So the answer to your orinigal question, trade or sell your vx and convert. The sooner the better.

I spoke to a mate who is in the NSW Police Highway Patrol and he told me that the Ford Xr6 and XR8 are having a lot of issues with electrics and gear box mounts. I know that these guys have to drive these cars hard, but I also know that they swap them after 60 thou K.

Has anyone had issues with thier XR6'S?

Are these common problems?

The electrical problems are happening to both the fords and Holden’s, because of the extra load on the electrical systems with extra gadgets the police use.

It was on the news a couple of weeks ago. :glad:

As for the gear box mounts, no probs here and I’m running 300+ @ the wheels.

I’m sure if there is an issue with that, you will soon get some feed back.

Welcome aboard

The problems you refer to are common...only in police vehicles! Theyre full of things drawing current, it's bloody obvious if u ask me.

I cant offer on his comment on gearbox mounts.

Welcome 'Gav'! I know the position your in as I came from a stock NA Jap Prelude back to a good ol Ford - don't know what I was thinking :msm:

All I can say is the sooner you get in the T the better! My last couple of car's were Jap and the performance qualities compared with the T awesome. The car is very responsive especially on cornering.

The auto I find is better than the manual (yet the BF auto I wish I had) as you have more fun with it, less time shifting and time to focus on driving. The auto is much quicker depending on your driving style too, I know, I know, I still go for the clutch but the semi-auto is a real bonus :spoton:

The stock T can be worked without major engine mods too at least 300rwkw. More depending on you want out of it. Basically take whatever FPV produce and you can almost throw most parts straight into the T. Not sure if this is the case with HSV?!? I've also read that the stock T compared to a heap of other stock car's is one of your best platforms to tinker with so it all makes sense..

I've been averaging around 14L-15L/100km (as I'm still getting used to the ride) but considering the power and performance increases it's still pretty good on the pocket. Have tried both 95% - 98% fuel's (Shell or BP ONLY) and don't really notice any major differences, Optimax/Ultimate flows a little better naturally.

In all, from a ex Jap car driver to the T, I can't recommend the choice enough and good luck..... \m/ :spoton:
