FYI, have clocked up 2500+KMs, booked in for 3000K service Friday week.

Car gets better and better every day. Thinking of adding a CAI, maybe exhaust, but will check with Ford first. Adding slimline window wind shields at service.

Thanks again for all info from everyone (except the idea to burn it for a Typhoon..LOL) and am enjoying this forum.

Am going to get them to replace oil with 10W-30 oil in service, will provide it myself. Not too sure what that is to be honest, so what brand, etc., do I ask for??

Looking forward to getting my stickers made up (non-turbo) to put where the turbo sticker goes for you T owners... LOL. That will be fun!!!

So when you guys pass me, say hi, you'll know it's me!!!

Nick

DONT USE SYTHETIC OIL THIS EARLY ON.let it run in first.maybe 15000.

most oil companys make mineral 10w30 oils like valvoline lo-vis oil.

im sure mobil and shell make them too.try Repco or supercheap.

I went from non turbo ba mk1 to turbo ba mk1.never looked back.

both were auto utes the same color.much happier 2nd time round. nothing wrong with non turbo though. im sure the bf would be better than thran the ba as far as noise goes.

did you enquire about insurance on a turbo.I think mine was an extra $600 a year. a lot of money but definatly worth it. I dont think it is worth moding a NA.I think if you get into that frame of mind you will end up lusting after a turbo.enjoy what you have-a very nice car.

Your car will probably gain a bit of power as you get some ks under your belt.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Too true. My engine just kept getting better up to about 15-20,000 ks, despite a few good "running in" sessions along the way

Also watch what oil goes in the car - the dealer put in 15W-40 dino oil at the 15k service and it made a noticeable difference changing to a decent 10W-30 at 25,000 ks. And run your tyres at 36 psi min. All little things, but they make a difference when you don't have a turbo

Depending on what tyres came on the car (not SP3000s I hope) the best thing to do with $1k might be a set of decent tyres. I put up with SP3000s for 35,000 ks and wish that I'd changed them MUCH sooner. The car is heaps quieter on smooth roads, corners better, etc, etc.

Just interested in how did changing the oil make a noticeable difference to your car?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah, I'm interested to know as well.... Please...

Sorry, missed these posts.

The engine felt smoother and quieter, and the fuel consumption improved slightly over my normal commute. Also, the engine used 1 litre of oil in 5,000 kms with the 15W-40 - normally uses very little.

The 15W-40 was put in at a service - they used BP Vanellus which is a mineral diesel oil. Not sure why they used this instead of BP Visco.
