I guess it all depends on how far you want to go with it... there's plenty you could do without a turbo but what sorta gains do you want? What sorta money do you want to spend?

I would look at exhaust for a better sound and slightly better flow, an edit for the tuning ability... where it ends is up to you :)

Nah, just bit by bit. prob between 2-3K.

I'm in Melbourne, not Brisbane.....

Hey guys,

I'm new to this site, and have just bought my first brand new car, the BF XR6 (non-turbo) and want to add a bit of extra grunt to it without going crazy.

Was thnking a cold air intake, but are there any other options out there that will give me the best bang for bucks??

Any and all replies are greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps,

Nick

Do you have the 6 speed auto? Your thoughts?

I have a BA XR6 (company car, leased, can't mod apart from edit :buttrock: ) I've thought about getting an edit done but not sure if it's worth it on a NA. Anyone know of any good tuners in Auckland or Hamilton?

Take it back and get a turbo you eeeeediot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are feeling lacking now.. Wait till you pull up next to a T at a set of lights....... Then you will need a prozac dispenser on the dashboard......

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeediot.................................

If you have a spare 1000 bucks, go get a brain transplant, therapy or at least a kilo of valium....

EEEEEEEEEEddddiout............

Yeah, but my pen*s is big enough already. I'm not after a rocket, just a family car with a bit of style. Got a wife and a 6 month old, so don't need to have the fastest/best car around.

Sorry if my question was silly, as I said I'm new to this forum. Thanks for the insult.

You dont have to explain why you bought the car you bought, if you get SS Inductions kit, and a good exhaust that will help, theres a guy around town with a 215 sticker on his boot and I think that's all he did, may have got a hi flow filter as well, just depends on how much you want to pay for an exhaust.

Hi Nick,

Congratulations on the purchase.

I had a NA BA XR6 Blueprint before my current car. I really liked it. Comfortable and roomy, and had the looks that turned heads (especially mine :stirthepot: )

Don't remember reading if yours was auto or not. If it was auto, I quite liked the 4 speed auto. I run a 6 speed auto now but from my point of view, both are excellent. I believe the 4 speed auto in the BF is tweaked further to enhance performance compared with the BA 4 speed auto.

Anyway, have an enjoyable time surfing this forum. I do. All the best.

Sorry for not replying earlier.

LOL, was about to PM but the phantomchic's been a busy gal by the looks of things...lol. Been going down a trip to memory lane reading those ancient threads, thanx Shaz.

Mate the kit I had on "GIMLI" was great. The car was not tuned to the point that excessive strain would be placed on the internals. All levels were tuned comfortably but that's what I wanted as it was still my 'day to day' vehicle.

Not in BNE? No prob.

Extractors, 2.5" Zorst, EDIT, Haltech Interceptor, UNICHIP...etc, K&N, BMC or what ever CAI solution you want to do and that's it. Do not really need to do the 2nd CAI but even in the NA, I noticed more punch. Easily under $3000. Result: a 220+KWFW XR6. Easily achieved. Just get a good and reliable tuner.

Good luck with it all mate and to be honest, I still do miss that car, it was great. A hell of a lot of fun and one hell of a monster off the mark, man it had punch. Steve (RDP) really did do a great job on it.

Welcome to the site mate!!

if your looking to do an edit, as Flukeyluke said Nizpro or HPF either one are great with proven results.

Thanks Muzza,

Is the Edit the best way to go, or are there other options up to $3K-ish

Nick

Seriously, you should have spent the $3k towards the turbo; would have given you more power and torque than what $3k will do to a NA XR6. Don't spend your money trying to make it go faster.

I'd be more inclined to spend the $3k towards suspension to make it a great touring vehicle

Thanks everyone for te ideas and feedback.

Had a great time running it in over the weekend, it's got a fair bit of punch even as it is!!!

Answers to previous posts, got the 4 speed as it was the las one left with the $2K cashback, and I'm a tightarse...... couldn't go for nearly $3500 for the 6sp....

Will get some photos and keep posting.

Thanks all....
