Yes, but technically they are virtually identical. In its physical and chemical composition. Like bringing out the BarraT engine with 220kw's in a conservitive car.

More options for unsatisfied consumers.

Like putting cheese on junior burgers....

All about marketing and the sheep they call the public.....

Mobil 1 = Mobil 1

a hugely expensive oil to research design and produce, but marketing people have told them they need to have options for consumers or they will loose sales to companies that sell oil in yellow or green or flourecent bottles... Or have picture of naked women on the packaging.......

Get this now.. Mobil 1 = Mobil 1

Mobil 1 - Is just that

Mobil 1 (there is only 1)

I ran it exclusively in the T and now in the Phoon.

What are you talking about dude?

There are several different viscosity ratings for mobil 1 available. Although some are harder to find in stores than others.

0W-40

10W-30

5W-50

15W-50

Duuuude...............

Mobil 1

Run it in your car and you will be OK....

Do you get it yet????

Ask Mobil for the Data sheets and you will see there is absolutely no difference between the products you mention....

Mobil 1 is the same product no matter how they package it.... Just make sure you change it every 8000 max. and do not push your car in above 35 degree air temp....

Oils are oils......

Whilst I don't understand half of that garbage, there is a distinct difference. Are you saying that they are an identical oil in a different bottle?

I'm no oil expert, and I've been using magnatec, as that's what my dealer uses.

In selecting an oil, if I was living down in Tassie, and drove like a old codger all the time, I'd go for the 10w30 mix.

If I was up north in the NT, with the no limit open road speed, and temps above 30 most of the year, I'd consider the heavier 10w50 oil.

I've always thought that 0wXX oil was a bit too thin unless you live above the snow line in the blue mountains) and would cause a fair bit of oil loss due to seepage past the rings.....

Like I said, I use the magnatec, but change it every 5000 km. Can get lots of magnatec for the price of Mobil 1.

Just dropped my T off for the 15K service today and had the same discussion with the FORD dealer. To my supprise he said the same as F.I.S.T performance here in Brisbane said 5W-50 Mobil 1 if you can afford it or stick to the Castrol Synthetic.

At high temps the turbo needs a thicker oil 0w (Weight) is to thin and at high ambiant temps will cause problems.

Here in the last few months it has not got below 26 deg at night most days in the 34 - 37 deg via the outside temp probe on the T.

F.I.S.T have always reccomended to me the 5W-50 Mobil 1. in some of there cars 300RWKW + must be OK.
