Nope, it's the same here in Vic. As I stated in another thread, I was told Jan/Feb delivery IF I order this week.

I don't know if this is crap, but the guy stated that the cam shafts on the T are different from the N/A (and the rest of the BA range). Supplies of these shafts have hit a snag and it's log delivery times.

As you said, it's ONLY on the T.

I'm ringing around tomorrow to see what the deal is because I was hoping to take one for a spin and sign up on Monday....

Not any more :-(

I have just been told by one dealer, that if I order this week we are looking at a Jan/Feb delivery date!  This is ONLY for the T's the N/A's are no problem

This will impact what I buy so I am "not happy Jan"...

This is unbelievable, one of the best cars they've ever built and they're asking people to wait 6 months. What else is there apart from turb, plumbing, different chip and a few other bits and pieces, that is causing this delay, FMCO needs to redirect some of these "plentiful" non turbo's and fit turbo's to them how hard can it be. Venom can you shed some light?

I was told it was because of a supplier problem with the cam shafts in the Turbo. I didnt realise the shafts were different in the T versus the rest of the BA fleet. I'm going to make some calls to clear this up tomorrow...

I ordered my XR6T in late feb and was told that delivery will be late May early June. Now they tell me it will be the 7th July. Then it will take a week to be transported to Canberra. I Really hope I get the car before August.

I mean this in the nicest possible way Venom (honestly) but how could 6 months delivery be "far fetched" if it is really happening?

I have been in Sales and manufacturing for 17 years and two things are constant:

1. Manufacturing times vary but they are close enough to fixed at time of order ie. you get quoted 3 - 3.5 months then delivery is approx. 3 - 4 months. Sure - lead times go out due to demand but that extended lead time applies to orders placed AFTER your order, increased demand should not affect orders already in the factory. How can Ford suddenly realise that my car is going to take TWICE as long (or more) 2 weeks out from my original delivery date?

2. When you stuff a customer around badly and don't even try to at least appease them with a plausible explanation, you will not only lose a sale but you will probably lose the business for the lifetime of that customer. I want Ford to tell me why this is happening.

Come on Ford - inform the customers that have placed orders with you in good faith of what the problem is, don't give the General a free kick!

We ordered our XR8 ute 1st week in Feb, and took delivery last Friday .. 5 long months. Whateva the reasons for the delays (run out of paint etc etc), it was worth the wait .. be it a 'T' or an 8, when you FINALLY get behind the wheel, time just dissapears!

Those wait times are shocking, I went through a similar process, but that was last year. I would have thought that Ford would have had it sorted by now. :o On the other side of the coin it is great to see the car is still so popular. Also I seem to remember reading a post with dealer memo stating production was slowed at one stage sort out quality issues. :(

I know nothing really helps and the waiting game sucks, but when you get it, it is brilliant. Despite everything you read about how great it is. Nothing compares to actually driving it again & again & again.....

Given this cars popularity you would expect a few to start showing up on WA roads. I have only seen a handful of T's on WA roads...not too sure where all of them are....t...10 more sleeps for this cookie

I have a theory (which in part is supported by off the record dealer comments) in that Ford are looking at a heavy discount period for the XR8 to clear stock as I think the XR6T sales have really surprised Ford - particularly as the XR6T is stealing mainstream V8 purchasers.

Personally given a decent discount I would look at the XR8 - then with the savings get stronger suspension fitted to the front and Bobs your uncle you've got a bloody good car.

Looked at from a business perspective Food going slower on XR6T production (with a know demand base) to push other not so demanded units (XR8 and GT) to the sports enthusiast is actually smart because it will push some to move to the other units.

Think of the good to come out of this.

In the late 80’s Mazda introduced there MX-5, there was such a wait for then that people who place order with Mazda early were taking delivery , driving there cars for 6 months and then selling them for more then they paid originally to people who could not wait.

It may keep the prices of used Falcons up longer than say Commodore.

Ford should address this issue quickly.

We ordered our XR6T in mid May and have been told definitely mid July about 7-8 weeks. (Holden’s said 6 weeks for a SS)

I will be PISSED with the dealer if it is any longer than 10 weeks.

We had to give our trade-in in early so as far as I am concerned we kept our part of the contract agreement and hopefully the Ford dealer will keep there part of it to by supplying the car on time.

I will be after legal compensation if it is any longer than 7-8 weeks for delivery.

We nearly brought a BMW 330CLI and the dealer said 2 to 3 months from Germany guaranteed as it was a special build, I think 5-6 months is a Joke for an Australian built car.

Brent400,

Sounds like you are beeing stooged to me. I'm in Canberra, I ordered on the 10 April and my car is hear now waiting for them to finish fitting some of the extras so I can collect her on Tuesday.

I think most of you guys on the eastern states will be experiencing your delays due to dealers having limited qotas for the XRT, ie two per month. So for an order placed now (june) they quote you Jan 04 delivery as they already have sold or traded every vehicle in their alocation or the next six months.

Like I said in a previous post http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...735&hl=delivery

There should be no exchuuse once yu have sido and manufacturing date.

PM me, I would liek to hear who you have ordered your car through.

Isher
