Bribed no one. I was actually seriously considering buying an SV8, I know, I know... but it's a V8, and it's in my blood. Even though the XR6T is of course "better", but part of me (the skippy part of course) has a hard time giving up the 8.

Anyway, when I was talking to the dealer, I said that I'll make a decision to buy an SV8 today, unless he could convince me otherwise... the rest is history!

I got my car 6:00 Thursday night.  WOW.  What a machine.  This is a great car.  I have not found 1 fault with it.  The gearbox is very nice.  Quick shift.  A tight cluch.  Very responsive.

:D

Congartulations,

l would love to hear your thoughts on the car in detail.

How quiet is it, can you hear the turbo singing away?

Just how hard does it accelerate?

What sort of running in did your dealer recommend? etc etc etc B)

Glad to hear you like the manual, we too went for a manual. l have read more negative than positve comments on it, but having not been able to test drive a manual its good to hear you like it. Couldnt bear the thought of an auto, l have had enough of the auto in our TS.

CJF should have got his car this afternoon, looking forward to hearing his opinion also.

The car is great. Not 1 problem and I have nearly done 1000Kph since last Friday. If anyone has seen an Acid Rush XR6 Turbo driving from Melbourne to Phillip island and then to Geelong last weekend it could have been me. The only thing I have found is that I will have to start thinking about getting shares in Shell. It really like to drink. The steering is a bit heavy compared to the AU III XR6, but it still handles well. The power the turbo produces is unbelievable. It really throws you back. If you really push the turbo hard you will hear the blow off valve, but it only happens from 2-3 about 5000rpm. The exhaust has a bit of a note. Sounds good when you first start it in the morning. The run-in period was “Don’t thrash it for a while.” The XR6 T comes with a free 3000K check. A service costs about $170. They suggested to me when I take it in for the free check that I get the oil changed. There is a little bit more noise then the Series III XR6 but I think that is cause of the 45 Profile tyres. The initial take off in first you need a few more revs than you would in a normal car. And Third gear takes a bit of getting use to. You have to move the gear shift a bit more to the right and up. I am only comparing this to my old car the AU III XR6. The lights in the bumper bar only work if you have your parker or driving light on. They will not operate separately. I have also found if I have the traction control on and the cruse control on the car will break and stick to the speed set if I am going down hill. I have not tried it with the traction control off. The engine gets warmer. It sits about half way and the fan cuts in all the time. What this car needs is a set of 4 point harness seat belts. I would like to see what this car does down the ¼ mile. So I know what I can take on, on the street. B)

Hope this might answer some of your questions.

Thanks for the report, sounds like the car has easily met your expectations :P

So just how thirsty is it, no doubt it is getting a bit more left foot action than what could be expected after you have owned it for a while?

l am suprised Ford went to the trouble of setting up the CC so the car brakes going downhill, l have never heard of that before although l'm sure many of the Europeans makers do this. Probably something made possible because of the drive by wire throttle.

Hey Mondie

Sounds like you do as many k's as I do hey....lol. B) 1000 in a week is impressive.

In the AU3 VCT I average 550 to 600 kms a week, and most of that is just driving to and from work. For you Sydney/Melb. boys, this is probably the norm, for Brisbane, it's unheard of....lol. :P We are only a pathetic country town up here still

See? I'm ready for the move down south...lol.

Bloody, bloody, bloody. My dealer can't or won't give me a SIDO & Ford Online always ask for the SIDO and then refer me back to my dealer. This is really crazy. Doesn't matter which way I turn I can't get anywhere.:angry::angry:

I got some encouraging murmors from my dealer today. He believes I may get the car as early as Feb 2003. Since there appears to be some floor stock floating about, I have told him I'm prepared to be flexiable regarding exact spec and colour if it gets me into a car sooner. Unitill I hear different, the wait goes on.......

Just got an email from leaseplan. They have confirmed that my car will be delivered on Feb 28th. Sounds positive but given other forum members experiences I won't put the Moet on ice just yet....

Given that a delivery date that's only 1 week away can change by a matter of weeks, its amazing that they can even tell you what month they think you're car may be born

Good luck, l hope they are right. By then you will be sick of hearing us bleating on about our cars B)
