Delivery Date When Do You Expect Your Xr6?

Yeah,

It's the thought that you pay good money and are being told any old story to keep sweet (unsuccessfully) while your car is being negotiated as an extra to the normal allotment. Hence an extra sale for the dealership.

I really hope I am wrong on this, but what other advantage is there to the dealer for making you wait. The other scenario is that you order car A, the dealer stalls processing the order for say six months, then the factory offers discounts to the dealer on that model. This the dealer pockets. Sort of like playing the margins.

I don't think this is happening here as the BA is too popular, especially the turbo.

I have been promised my xr6t ute early March delivery, so when should I be able to obtain this sacred number?

I'm not holding my breath yet. Lets just say I've given the sales rep instructions to go over the damn thing with a fine tooth comb. 1st thing to check for, Plexis Phantom interior. Surely they cannot mess things up twice in a row.

Poor guy, he knows what a picky bas***d I am so he will have his work cut out today (if it arrives today that is).

I'll just be soooo happy to be in an XR again. The Falcon AU II Forte courtesy car, this smilie says it all!!!

It handles like a shopping trolley, it's gutless, damn near falling to peices (it's only done 48,000K's). If I had bought an AU forte, I'd be one unhappy customer.

I suppose it will make the whole experience worth while and I'll appreciate this baby more. I've organised 2 days off, 3rd and 4th Feb so it will be a 4 day weekend starting from the 1st. planning to run her in nicely before the peak hour traffic blues take their toll.

I was given mine soon after ordering.

As far as I know getting a SIDO number does not necessarily mean your car is on the production line it just means it is in the que.

I think you should keep trying your dealer and if he doesn't help go to Ford for the number.

FWIW when I signed my (second) contract, the SIDO was on the contract in the "Description of Motor Vehicle" section listed as the "Stock Number"

If you don't have a SIDO, then I assume they have not allocated stock for your car yet. The first dealer I ordered through could not give a SIDO until late Feb at best so I went else where and got a SIDO on the contract......

AMOffat, any news on your car. Have you considered changing dealers...there are cars out there especially if you are a retail buyer, which IIRC you are. What state are you in? (I'm sure you have told us but I forgot)

Can someone tell me if I should push my dealer for a SIDO?

I have ordered over a month ago and was told April delivery. Not only do I not have a SIDO number but I haven't even finalised the colour of the car...dealer said I don't have to let him know till end of Jan/early Feb (Merc Silver has pipped phantom at the post).

After reading all this no SIDO no allocation stuff I'm beginning to think that April is even shaky.

I have only been allocated a temp vehicle until end of March. :(

OK here is the deal..

The dealers get "Allocation" about 2/3 months ahead of time. They are told by Ford how many XR6, XR6T, XR8s etc they will be "Allocated" in a specific Month. Once this happens then they place orders / set the specs of the car against that allocation. This is the point where they get the SIDO number. So the long and the short of it is that if they have not got their allocation for April then they have not placed your order against it and can not get a SIDO till that is done.. If there order numbers are larger than the numbers of allocations then the only thing they can do (apart from b**ch at Ford for more) is to try and swap something they have been allocated with another dealer...

In most cases the dealers will have an idea ahead of time how many of a specific model they will get allocated. For example my dealer knew that he was not geting any XR6T's in Feb and that the one that they had been allocated for December was puched back to Jan. So I was told that I was first cab of the rank for March allocation (I was and mine is the only XR6T they will get in March - Small dealer but this is all good..)

Make sence.... Ask them if they ave their allocation for April and when they will be placing the orders for April. Then you can get the SIDO...
