Got talking to the sales manager and he's not really happy either, as he is a smaller dealer and losing plenty of business because Ford can't supply the cars quickly. Because there are so many different component input suppliers, and Ford completely underestimated the demand for the cars, it takes only minor delays in the supply of one component to stuff up the whole process. There is now a lot of pressure on these suppliers.I think Ford had lost faith in its own ability to compete against Holden, and completely stuffed up its projections. I did not think I would buy another Ford ever again after owing an AU, but the new BA is such a quantum leap in standard, I've come back to the fold. I only got my car by chance because of a cancelled order, otherwise I'd still be waiting another 3-4 months or may have dropped out altogether.Brian
Guest P'cisT Guests Posted 20/06/03 01:51 AM Share Posted 20/06/03 01:51 AM They told me Nov when we ordered but yet to get SIDO. I'd be annoyed to get it December, 'cos the car on paper will be a 2002 built model when it is so close to 2003, lowering my resale.Yet, I dont want to receive it after the end of year holidays.I really hope I get it on my due date. Delivery scheduled for 30th of June.Sure it's a ute, but it has the same good bits.Catlike- tell your dealer you are going to go with the general, and I would be surprised if he didn't move a bit. I was told 3 to 4 months at first, then pulled the GM trick and look what happenned.

I'm indecisive at the moment, should I purchase a xr8 or xr6t ute or should I wait for series 11???why : 1. because they won't negotiate a deal unless you threaten to go to brand red symbol. 2. some projections have delivery times going into 04 (salemans attitude,if you're gullible enough you'll wait), if it's a matter of waiting that long I'ii wait that bit extra and buy the ba11. What, maybe this time next year? I can't wait that long!Another dealer visit (my local guy, finally). He said he would guarantee an October delivery if I ordered this month. I am looking for November delivery so this is not an issue. He said that he could probably get the T in September without a problem so that's three months.Don't know if the 1st guy I spoke to quoting Jan/Feb delivery times was pulling my leg. Seems so... Where are you? I am in Brisbane and can put you in touch with a dealer that will get you the car quick, and with a big saving.BAII will probably have just as long wait.I drove the XR8 and I must admit the decision was tough. That sound is nice and so is the bonnet. Also the difference in price is only a couple of grand unlike the sedans. But I like the idea of getting more power out of the turbo on a budget, and Ihave a feeling the Turbo might have better resale. There is nothing wrong with threatening them with GM's prices. You can get a good deal on an SS ute now, so although you would never want one after driving the fords, they are still competition for each other and will be priced accordingly.note- when I drove the SS, the dealer agreed it wasn't as good as either of the fords. He quoted 38k on the road for one, undercutting Ford by about 5k.
Guest catlike Guests Posted 20/06/03 06:21 AM Share Posted 20/06/03 06:21 AM Just got told that 2 turbos per month get allocated to W.A. - no wonder it's a debacle. I should've got LeasePlan to order from an East Coast dealer. Looked at the GMH range and can't bring myself to do it - they're crap. THIS CAR HAD BETTER BE DAMN GOOD. Posted 20/06/03 08:14 AM Share Posted 20/06/03 08:14 AM catlike, don't do it man, the wait is worth it belive me. I was talking to our dealer here in Mandurah (Lane Ford) and he said that for August only 4 turbos were comming into WA, 3 for the city and one for Kalgoolie, that's all Ford would let out. The rest apparently are for lease and fleet orders

They certainly are making it up as they go along :D Oh well I'm waiting, I've decided to expect a December delivery, that way if it comes any earlier I'll be happy.
