High 11's in a phoon that still has that new car smell

:spoton:

high 12 I think is more achievable.

Given 250rwkw auto's have run mid 12's I would have thought that a 300rwkw ZF auto could at least better that.

But hey what do I know I've only been to the strip once and that was just to witness how slow the manuals were :spoton::pinch:

mm, what would I know eh.. gearing, weight, conditions, grip.. They all factor. It's not about the HP. They make the HP.

I've also been in the car, and we timed it..

Check out the thread..

Not so sure about the 11 just yet. :spoton:

Reason being it has much longer gears in second and up and what I notice when driving it, it has a sleep between 5000 and 6000 rpm where it feels like it needs to shift but wants to linger on till 6000rpm.

Id say when the shift points are done it will be good! as that last 1000rpm is dead with no boost actuator due to lack of boost up top.

With traction 0> 100 is awesome and Id say with a stall and traction easy 4 sec as Ben and I did a 4.3 odd from idle so with some work that should be good.

It’s just the second to 3rd and 3 to 4th that need a small adjustment to match the engine power curve.

Still all new box and a learning curve at the moment so don’t get too excited just yet .. Plenty of time ahead!!!

I think that the trans itself being basically a heap of clutch packs and variable pressure solenoids it's only a matter of time before someone brings out the tough as nails go fast bit's.And I'm sure the tuners shouldn't have too much of a problem tweaking the TCM(Transmission Control Module). We've seen a heap of good results with edit on the factory PCM so it will be just a matter of time.

As far as the standard trans taking high power input,I've seen a few of these trans apart and they look pretty tough in standard form but it's not the Kw's you have to worry about,it's the torque that your going to put through it that may pose the problem. The same reason the Typhoon uses a twin plate clutch as opposed to the single plate in the standard T's.

I spoke to Dave @ Kewish the other day about the new 6 speed. He is getting one delivered before the end of the week and will start developing it straight away. In previous conversations he believed it should be able to cope with 300rwkw's.  :useless:

If someone gives me with a BF XR6T 6spd I'll be the test mule again. I'll get it into the 10's and let you know which bits didn't cope too well.

Just a quick question.....Does anyone know or heard of tuners adjusting the spark retard on gear shifts to allow the boxs to handle more torque. I was wondering how it's done and what sort of gains can be achieved.
