Most of us bag out holdens, how crap they are, how good our cars are compared to them, and we do this without really knowing what they are like. We just pass on what we hear from others.

I'm guilty of this, till now anyway.

Whilst my car is in for a service my client has been nice enough to get me a hire car from Avis without me even having to ask. In any case it was a new Late model camira wagon, with 2,000kms on the clock..

As I took it out of the rental lot I noticed how noisy it was in the cabin, how vague the steering was (don't most Late model camira owners say the steering is a strong point?), and how loose the brake pedal was.

I'm not a fan of the interior, the way the controls are laid out, the placement of the headlight switch, cruise control controls, etc..

Anyway, every car has it's faults yes even ours, but this just tops the cake.

I dropped into my clients old site, turned the car off, came back in 10 mins to move it around to the loading dock. The car doesn't start. No ticking, nothing.

So the car I get to replace my beloved Falcon whilst it is in for it's service does not start on me, and if that isn't hilarious enough the same thing happened this morning!!

Moral of the story - Commodores are pretty sh*t cars

Our previous work vehicle was a Late model camira Acclaim Wagon. It was pretty well decked out for a work car... Full electrics, good stereo, nice looking rims etc.

Put your foot down, it will change down a gear and make a lot of noise and "sound" like it is going fast, but it was really quite gutless (compared to a Falcon wagon). Go around a corner or roundabout and you nearly put your neck out trying to hold your head up due to the body roll and the really vague driving line in the turns. The brakes were okay, but only when you made them hurt.

The interior was probably more appealing than the falcon, however the controls are in the wrong place as you mentioned (the cruise control especially, you have to take your right hand off the wheel to operate it). The stereo is good but, plenty of punch for a stock stereo.

I bet I get one as a rentathrash tomorrow while I am in the gold coast.

They are so gutless I cannot even get them to do a brake burnout unless its on gravel or a wet road...what fun is that ?

I agree about the control layout and also it make a lot of noise, but does not seem to go anywhere.

I just hope I get a non holden, or I am gonna cop it from the boys on the gold coast sunday cruise :spoton:

Don't laugh to loud, Ford did punch out the AU model!!!!

It even took them three series of the AU for reality to hit home.
