Typhoon does run more boost in stock form than a standard T. Having said that, I hope it was a freebie as there is a big difference between a stock phoon's output and an edited (and custom tuned) XRT.

If you have to pay money then save the pennies for an edit. :laughing:

It shouldn't make it go harder as the F6 only gets its extra boost from the lower restrictions in the intercooler and airbox, the ECU doesn't bring the boost up, it just doesn't lose as much boost through the intake as the XR6T does. It would work if you had the F6 intake and intercooler. The fuel and ignition maps are also not designed for the XR. This could result in a bad state of tune.

Have been tempted to do this but yes, fuel/ignition maps would be different I'd imagine. (Admiting I'm far from an expert). Wouldn't another concern be with the settings of the camshaft timimg in the F6, slightly delayed to deal with the additional boost?

Not sure it would work properly on a BA as it only has Dual Variable Cam timing(DVCT) and I dont believe that it has any components to make it Dual Independant variable cam timing(DIVCT)

I know the Phoon when it came out in Ba MKII form had DIVCT

I reckon you would have better luck doing it to a BF as it is standard with DIVCT

Hmmm.

Doesn't the Blackoak control boost in these things? If it does, then it will control the level of boost via wastegate actuation, even if the intake system is more efficient.

I have a xr6t and a mate of mine works at a ford dealership in town we tried something on the weekend we reflashed the computer with the software from a typhoon and it made a big difference the only thing is now the oil pressure light stay's on. I have searched the forums and have found posts that talk about the oil pressure light problem but no solutions, does anyone know how to resolve this is it because the typhoon has an oil pressure guage not just the light and the sensors are different or do they have 2 different sensors.

I had the same problem when we flashed my car with the typhoon software and all they did was disconnect the oil light and told me it would be ok.the only problem I've had is 2 weeks later the clutch started to slip and they put in another clutch plate with a heavy duty pressure plate.I've now been running the program for 15000km with no problems and it only gets better with the typhoon CAI which I have put in. Hope that helped.BTW the saying goes its not what you know its who you know.

I don't think anybody would try and reflash a std. BAXRT with a BF Typhoon program :crybaby: . Not sure but I will try and find out from my contact, but I believe Ford should still have a BA Typhoon program that you could reflash to a BA XRT.

BA's have the same VCT hardware as the BF, it just didn't have the software programmed to run it independently. If you could get a software program for the BA it could run independent. The BA F6 had the program to run independent, and it uses the same VCT hardware as the rest of the BA range.
