I'd go the phoon...

If the price ain't much in it now I'd say the T's value will fall more than the phoon's value...

Plus as an added bonus he get's to drive around in a phoon... Nuff said...

If he still can't deside get him to pick the colour he likes the best... :spoton:

Hi All

I recently purchased my Rapid '05 BF Typhoon in Auto for $56,000 plus options like 19" wheels etc. I was offered the same car in Shockwave for $55,500 with the standard 18" wheels inc. accessories.

Another dealer offered me a Bionic '05 BF Typhoon Auto "ex demo" for $55,000 inc. accessories, but it already had 4,000km on the clock, which means every man and his dog may have driven it, it wasn't run in the way I like to run my cars in and the warranty was already 3 months gone. Besides all that I really wanted a Rapid one.

They charged me $500 to have the colour I wanted shipped in but I didn't care 'cause it was the colour that was more important to me.

Now considering the Auto is a $1,250 option that makes the equivalent Manual worth only $54,250 and that's for a '05 BF Typhoon.

If he's looking at resale value, the Auto will hold it's price better because it's not only new and a huge improvement over the BA Typhoon, but you can drive it like a manual if you want to.

I've been driving in Manual mode for the last few days and it's nothing like the BA Auto. The changes are much faster, not to mention smoother, it's just a better jigger all round.

Tell your mate to look for an '05 BF Typhoon "ex display stock", not a demo as the warranty starts the minute the car is first registered.

If necessary I can put him in touch with some dealers who may be able to assist him.

Regards

Big AL

only someone who doesnt know how to drive a manual would make such a statement. :wytpgar:

all you can do with your auto is select the gear you want when you want it. YOU NEED A CLUTCH FOR TOTAL CONTROL :wytpgar:

as for the resale value, only time will tell but I for one would only buy a performance car in MANUAL.

I would go the phoon if it was the same price without any thought at all. They are an enhanced XR6T - no disadvantages, many good things. The difference between a BF and BA are not enough to outweigh the F6.

Although everyone is on about the new auto box - I reckon the manual 6 speeds will hold a premium on both the T and F6 just because they are rarer (so when someone is looking second hand they will have less choice). though... at the end of the day, none of the cars are good at holding value. But... a 55k XR6T will be worth less than a $55k F6 in 1 years time, let alone 3, 4 or 5 years down the track.

F6 really no question, better brakes, big body kit, the rest of the FPV luxurys and the drive day

Going from a T3 to a XR6T would be a step down unless he is Modding it

Having owned and XR6 Turbo and driving a couple of Typhoons he would have to take the Typhoon for sure.

Maybe he needs to hunt around and drive a GT as well as the car he has is good so there are some good options out there so hunting for a good price is the key.

I agree with the statment above about buying a performance car with a manul. My GT has a manual and its so much fun. A bit harder to get off the line quickly but once speed gets up look out.

Hope he gets the car for he wants
