Go delphi coils for $100 if you can get them cheap and if it fixes the problem then ya have only spent $100. Then go spent $250 on a set of genuine coils when and if the delphi's sh*te themselves. Total out lay $350 maybe. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/23287-overboosting/page/5/#findComment-1636846 Share on other sites

Everytime I give it a good boot full for long enough I experience the "brrr". Like its hitting a flat spot or rev limiter. Noticed that it likes to happen more often and sooner when I have a full car. Just don't need to. Plugs arnt like they were in the old days with a fat core. They are very delicate and easily damaged. Changing the angle and or shape of both electrodes greatly affects the shape and intensity of the spark they are precision ground by the manufacturer and yes being a bike mechanic I have seen plenty of regapped dirt bike plugs. And people wonder why it's down on power. Like I say. Having half an idea of what you are doing is dangerous. I buy coppers and last time I checked they still have a fat arsed electrode. I've had no issues hand gapping them and running over 30 psi on my r33 and now 18 to 20 psi on my xr6 so while I could throw money down the drain I don't need to. Obviously it can be farked up if someone doesn't know what they are doing, just like changing a tyre or swapping out brake pads or sticking it in the right hole when the lights are out. The fact remains is that you can regap a plug, even an iridium plug, to solve a weak coil issue. A little info never hurt anyone. Box stock T. Member 1,384 Member For: 10y 29d Posted 19/04/17 07:13 AM Share Posted 19/04/17 07:13 AM I have worked out old mates problem. Weak coil issue. Remedy: buy a set of new genuine ford coils. And at the same time clean or replace boost controller and clean throttle body just for the fun of it. nobb91 New Member 14 Member For: 9y 1m 8d Posted 19/04/17 07:29 AM Share Posted 19/04/17 07:29 AM Okay well im going to have to try coils. I told my mechanic to try coils but he seems to think it will be a waste of time and money and still have the issue. Another mechanic owns the same car seems to think ots boost related. Have changed plugs, cleaned throttle body, boost solenoid replaced. Wondering if I chuck it on the dyno shoulf be able to replicate problem and maybe work sonething out from there or just buy genuine coils and hope that fixes the problem if not start again loke usual. Thanks again everyone. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/23287-overboosting/page/5/#findComment-1636855 Share on other sites
