Well, its been in the pipeline, But here is the question-

How long can a stock auto run around with 290rwkw, with nothing but some edit modifications to line pressures, and a tranny cooler fitted with a thermo fan?

Answer- exactly 19, 875km, then theres no 4th gear!

Coming home from work tonight, turned out from a T intersection onto an expressway and gave it a bit, coming up a hill, then, as I was hitting about 120km'h, stamped on it to get around a car, she kicked back to 3rd, and never came back to 4th.

Tried shifting into manual mode, the number on the dash definately changes to 4th but I can assure you the gearbox nows nothing about it.

Theres no strange noise, car doesnt hesitate or anything, its just got no 4th gear.

Time for an upgrade :spoton: , anyone with any recommendations???

My car is 48000km old in total. Things happen.

Im just wondering what may possibly be the problem? if anyone has any theories on whats happened? I though if it was starting to slip it would still catch the gears but at higher rev range? If its possible to repair.

As for what options, Its crap being here in Canberra, there is SF All options, anything would have to be sent here to be installed.

I checked out Geea's thread, sounds like he's running a big box for a big car. I heard Prestons Auto's were doing an exchange gearbox's too. Im just not sure how a modded gearbox will effect the edit settings I currently have for the standard gearbox.

So many questions, does anyone have Kewish's or Prestons contact numbers??

Danno, give me a ring on 0417892479 and I'll try answer any questions I can about auto's and what to do with them.

Ha Ha! Sorry mate, I thought you might have held my common sence a little higher than that! Thanks for your concern.

I would have thought anyone that is as hands on with their car as I am wouldnt need any fore warning. I Have gone to the greatest lengths possible to conserve the standard gearbox for as long as it could.

I didnt start this thread whinging about it, just letting everyone know about what has happened.

Now back to the issue, After thinking about it a little all day while at the drags at WSID (which was awesome by the way!) There is a few things that dont make sence. There is no flaring previous to any problem, there are no special noises, oil leaks, shifting delays in the gears that work or any other indication of a problem. Oil was changed 5000km ago.

Im thinking its spat the dummy and gone into limp mode, locking me out of 1st and 4th gears. So tonight, I've disconnected the battery, and will leave it overnight, go out in the morning, re-connect it, reflash my tune in and go for a spin and see if the problem dissappears.

Fingers crossed.

Good work Danno! :tease:

If youre not breaking bits, youre not trying hard enough! :spoton:

Saleen (rob) had a exchange box fitted to his T, he loves it, and to be honest so do I.

He had it done in Melb, which is gonna be a pain in the @ss for you to get it down there, unless you do the same as me, which could be organised if necessary.

Cost him $1200 or somewhere around that. Might cost you more than that, cause your 4 speed is now a 3! :spoton:

Hopefully its software and I wont have too. must eliminate the easiest solutions before worrying about the complex ones. we will see.
