A Question For Those With Edit Only...

Hi Jack (ha ha gettit?)

With 10psi edit only you can floor it in first and get mass wheel spin which will continue in to second. If, for example, you are coming out of a roundabout in 2nd, straighten up (into a 90 zone, of course) and you floor it you will skip sideways for a few metres down the road (nothing too scary), traction control light will come on and you'll sail off into the distance like you're on jelly rubber.

Same roundabout, same tyres, same exit speed without edit is a minor scrabble of the tyres with no loss of grip.

If I had more power in the above scenario, I wouldn't be able to floor it and for my kind of driving, I think "whats the point?". But that's just me.

So- short answers to your questions - 1st is mass wheel spin but still controllable and 2nd @ 3000rpm is definite loss of traction but controllable and fun.

I think I'll leave the inj/valve springs for later, and just get the edit to start with... I think I want something that is just on the edge of crazy at the moment...

And the stand alone edit I think will do this... :fool: though my offer to travel anywhere in Melbourne to ride in an edit only manual still stands...

hey guys

There is a new flash tuner called the Xcalibrator 2. Its been out for quite a while in america and basically everywhere else other than australia. Capa has made a deal with sct superchips (the makers of flash tuner) that they will be able to supply the australian market with no other competitors. The bad thing about this is that capa is only selling the xcalibrator 1 and not the xcalibrator 2 until it dumps all the surplus stock of the xcalibrator 1. Another thing, capa is selling at huge prices that are well over what the market value of the xcalibrator 2 is in america and it's not even the latest product. If we as customers continue to accept this we will not get the latest products until they themselves become old and have been already replaced with newer products.

The xcalibrator 2 is a real neat piece of gear, it has a hand controller that means a laptop is no longer necessary. It has the functions of a power FC controller with more. There is also software for racers that we are not allowed to have. If you check out this website you will understand what I'm saying

Agreed it is not uncommon for australia to get screwed on these type of products hopefully CAPA does the right thing and reduces the price of their current flash box and starts selling these.

Hey boys...

Due to some good circumstances I am just about to get $1000 I didn't think I was gonna get...

Should I go injectors and valve springs too?

I am SO paranoid that I will lunch my T5 it's not funny... the clutch isn't so much of an issue as I would have to upgrade it anyway but will the inj/springs/edit kill my gearbox?

I think I need to have a chat with Simon at Nizpro and seek some guidence...

Sorry to be the voice of reason, but didn't you just answer your own question? If you've got an extra K kicking around, why not spend it on a malwood now, instead of spending it 6months from now, plus another $300 in towing fees when you fry it on a cruise day or something? :blink:

I'm getting a flash tuner in a couple of weeks myself, so I'm looking forward to it too. Just gotta wait until I get to Brisvegas for a custom tune, until then it's 8psi tune all the way (no 98RON up here for the 10psi map :spoton: )

Hey Guys,

Power to the people we should inundate SCT in the US with emails venting our disapproval of the way CAPA is abusing its sole importing rights. I have seen the SCT Xcalibrator 2 over six months ago for $350USD ($470AUD) delivered to a US address overnight with generic tunes for your Ford. What CAPA is doing is unconscionable. There’s is now an improved version called the SF, when do we see it?

I want one now!!!!! :spit::spit:
