I wonder how the single plate used in the 6sp compares to the 5sp????

Has slipped a bit at the strip, but no worse than stock and due to poor launches more than anything.Funny though, if I floor it at 3000rpm in 3rd, I thought my clutch was slipping (ie sound of increased revs was not resulting in increased acceleration) but I have since discovered its actually the much louder turbo whistle - not revs. So no, my clutch doesn't slip. Mind you, I think I'm much easier on my car than many here.

Posted 10/02/06 11:34 AM Author Share Posted 10/02/06 11:34 AM Hey boys...Due to some good circumstances I am just about to get $1000 I didn't think I was gonna get...Should I go injectors and valve springs too?I am SO paranoid that I will lunch my T5 it's not funny... the clutch isn't so much of an issue as I would have to upgrade it anyway but will the inj/springs/edit kill my gearbox?I think I need to have a chat with Simon at Nizpro and seek some guidence...Jack

Posted 10/02/06 11:58 AM Author Share Posted 10/02/06 11:58 AM I can't edit my post above so I will add to it here...Or should I go the dump and cat...Or should I go replacement intercooler for more repeatable performance?I honestly don't think I'll ever be upgrading to the cobra inlet manifold so an upgraded cooler wouldn't become redundent over time...What do you boys think?Jack
markxr6t Member 476 Member For: 20y 2m 8d Location: Perth WA Posted 10/02/06 12:38 PM Share Posted 10/02/06 12:38 PM Here's my advice (from another cautious T5 driver).1. Buy the edit. Make sure - check and double check- you have the latest CAPA tunes. Try the 8psi. Say "Wow". Try the 10psi. Say "Faaaarrrrk".2. If your engine seems to miss badly, regap your plugs to 0.8mm3. If this doesn't do it for you (it does it for me) get a custom tune.4. If you look at the Mal Wood sponsored forum, Ben gives excellent advice on driving with T5s in modded T's. High torque kills T5s, so don't lug and feel free to use revs. ie WOT at 3500rpm in 2nd is better than 2000rpm in 3rd. Where possible, find friction point before releasing clutch.5. If valve springs cause a problem, try getting a high flow cat first (or gut your current one) as the reduction in back pressure will reduce valve spring problems. I wouldn't worry about valve springs as I rarely rev to 6000rpm on the street and I only get issues after 5000rpm.6. Personally, I wouldn't bother with injectors because they will allow you to easily go beyond 250 rwkw and this is high risk territory for T5s.I think you'll enjoy 10psi or Custom edit only, re-gapped plugs and cat de-restriction. I certainly do (cat pending). I easily lose traction in 2nd and fun in 3rd is lose licence territory. that's fine for me.Good luck Mark

Posted 10/02/06 12:50 PM Author Share Posted 10/02/06 12:50 PM Ok Mark...You have what I am getting... so I'll ask you a few q's... if you don't mind...Is 1st a no traction job if trying to launch it?How about 2nd... if I stand on it at 3000rpm will it break traction again? If it will then that is basically all I'm after for now, I do drive the car to work every day and don't think I could keep off the loud pedal if I had anymore... I know from others on here that I will want more but I'll get to that eventually... Does anyone here have an edited only maual car in Melbourne that is willing to let me be a passenger in their car? I'll travel to wherever you are...Jack
