I am running just over 250rwkw in a Manual and have been running that power for 70,000 km. The original clutch died after about 30,000 km and my car has never done a burnout. The stock clutch in the BA with the T5 is just sh1te. The replacement clutch from Mal Woods is faultless.

It will only fry tyres if you want it to, but it will go like a b@stard...

I have been running 250rwkw since september last year and no worries so far! my clutch hasn't let go once. Again, it depends how you drive it. I always told myself I wouldnt give it a belt "every" time I drove it... however, with the edit I HAVE to take it to 5800rpm in first or second at least once when I drive it... cant help myself!! especially if there is a Late model camira trying to impress!

In saying that, I've had no dramas! In fact, my new injectors arrived this morning... so quick these days!! next day delivery... all I gotta do is order my clutch and cooler, get a retune and then save up for some new 19" rubber!!

Once you have 250 at the wheels... its not long before the bug re-bites and more power is needed... in fact I often wonder if my car has lost power!! then when I give it some and smell the passengers after thoughts, I realise its still got it! Just me being used to it. So now I drive a little corolla to work most days, and leave the T for when I got days off and when I want some fun!

EDIT KILLED MY CLUTCH

and maybe a little too much right boot.

As most people have pointed out both the T5 and T56 clutches are only just adequate for the stock power levels, Ford uses the clutch as a way to protect the drive line. If you can fry the clutch at stock power levels then an Edited T

is going to do it that much quicker, of course you can baby the car but then whats the point of the Edit if you are not going to use it.

Get the edit and start saving for a HD clutch, the stock one should hang on long enough for you to get a replacement

if your worried about your box... and your looking for no more then 250 rwkw... the mal woods organic clutch for $770 might be the go..... at least in higher power applications(if you decide you want more then 250) it will give way b4 your box does....

That was going to be my next question... the clutch in my car seems to be fine for now, doesn't slip or anything and as I stated above I'm not a burnout person so hopefully it holds up for a little while...

But you reckon the Mal Woods is the go? Cool...

Thanks mate

its not your trashing the car that kills the CLUTCH (it does help though)... its the torque that kills it.... you might find your clutch starting to slip in 4th or 5th as the torque is higher.

JB had a really good clutchin his... its a ceramic that drove like an organic.... this is what I might look at next as it is good for up to 400kw.

I woud play it safe with the T5 and go for something not as strong as a ceramic... organic is the way to go IMO with the T5.

I noticed my clutch slipping in 3rd and 4th at WOT. It was not noticeable in 1st as the tyres would still break traction. I am sure it did slip in 1st, it was just not noticeable. In 3rd and 4th, you could hear the engine RPM not correspond to the road speed when you gave it a bootful.

My clutch slips under stock conditions, usually at the strip. It had spun in 3rd before and I thought I cooked it, but my next run I did a 13.9

I think when I get an edit my clutch will let go quickly, but I will be looking to replace it with a performance one anyway so it's all good.

Ford_Power has a very good clutch, where did u get it?
