Phoon or GT?A choice I will be making in the not too distant future.A vexing choice.Resale on GT's appears to be slightly better.Rwkw in the latest Perford mag is GT 247, Phoon 225,but if modded we all know which one will end up faster for less money.

Over a long period of ownership, say 6 plus years,I have a feeling that the GT might be the fresher car.

Saying that because we owned an EB XR8 that did 160,000 kms and it was truly almost like new in every way.

However the Phoon is the real drivers car and the GT perhaps more the cruiser. The head says Typhoon and the heart says GT in my case. The phoon looks more hi tech and the GT looks like a traditional aussie musclecar?Still undecided.Whichever one you choose may have you wondering if you should have bought the other.,but they're both great cars.

Go the Typhoon, but do yourself a favour, tick the six speed auto option, it makes the car!

I think that not everyone out there wants to by a Typhoon. This is an XR6 Turbo web site so most probably do and fair enough. I have had the choice of both and chose the GT because it suits me and I am sure there are countless other people out there as well. I drove both as well so I know what both cars are like.

The Typhoon is a great car but so is the GT but it depends what you want in a car and good on the guys that have bought either and I doubt there would be many who regret there decision, but those people who want a change could always trade there car.

I'm facing the same choice. The heart says GT, it looks better, sounds better and once you factor in 19 inch wheels standard the price is nearly the same as an F6 with 19's. I also like the stripes and love the bonnet bulge, and I've always been a V8 man. The head says the F6 as its a bit quicker, and can be powered up easier. The thing is that I don't need a 10 second car, I would be happy to have something that could run 12's, and this can be done to the GT with just bolt ons. It might be a bit harder and more expensive but at least the auto box could handle a modified NA engine. Don't like the chances of the ZF box handling 800+ NM from a boosted 6.

Anyone know what the average fuel numbers per 100ks are on the Typhoon and the GT. I know it depends on where and how you drive but on average, I'm guessing the GT has to be thirstier.

My XR6T over 95,000kms reads about 11.3 which is pretty damn good for a performance car.

My turbo would do around 10.9 on a long trip and the GT I have just got managed 11.3 following a 140km drive and had to pass 5 or so times, the trick is 6th gear and cruise control when you want to save fuel. Not sure what the Typhoon is like, I wouldnt amagine it would be to much different from a stanard Turbo.
