I'm getting my Mercury Silver 6-speed auto XR6T for $48250 with tint, reverse sensor (for the missus), premium sound, XR floor mats (have kids, so these are needed:), pollen filter and headlight guards.  Spoke to several other dealers and they couldn't get close to that price.

Looks like a reasonable price to me. I was quoted 52K with similar options but luxury interior, which makes up the 4K difference.

Who are you getting this through? (I'm still looking for the best price).

Thanks to the person who recommended privatefleet.com.au, I got in touch with them and they do seem very helpful.

Have the prices gone up recently?

A year ago (almost)

I got Mk2 new XR6T 6 speed manual with Sports Seats, Premium Sound, Momo Wheel, including GST registrations etc - $49,000

At this stage that was a good price in NZ - but Aussies were getting cheaper as the currency and transport costs raised ours.

Have BFs increased the price?

Thanks for the replies and info everyone. Looks like I am on the right track for pricing. I'll give a couple of car brokers a ring as well and see how I go.

The only thing I am a little hesistant about concerning car brokers is the ability to haggle on things such as accessories . Ie - I assume the price they come back to you with is not negotiable, so you can't haggle about getting some accessories thrown in (fllor mats, headlight protectors etc), as you could with a dealer? I suppose if they come back with a better price than a dealer for all accessories included it doesn't matter! :)

Another tip:

Im my opinion the extras are grossly overpriced and worth far less than Ford claim. Take their value with a grain of salt. Remember, these so-called pricey extras often get added to cars for free as the product lifecycle nears its end.

I got my 2006 XR6T with 6 speed auto, metallic paint, premium sound, tint, reverse sensing, XR floor mats for $47,500 on the road and 12 months rego. I tried private fleet but did not feel comfortable with them in the end.
