I got a mate who's a gun with a TIG welder and I can get polished stainless in any size for a great price.. we wanna sit down one weekend and make a exhaust for the ute.

I want a note like the APS exhaust, quiet with a purr and a little bit throaty when given revs but no crackle or pops thankyou very much!

what should I do,A single 3.5' or twin 2.5' system from my existing 3.5' "metalcat"??

Id rather do the single 3.5' for half the work and half the cost of mandrel bends... what do you guys think would be the way to go??

thanks :spoton:

No Idea.....One day I will actually get around to working out some maths on the exhaust notes etc.....

But until then I can tell you the larger the diameter, the lower the note.

I would also be interested in how you go with the 3.5 system as I am considering it myself.

cheers

david

im guessing the 3.5 pipe is going to sound a fair bit louder on idle than the twin setup..

to get the aps sound I rekon the twin setup will be needed :spoton:

someone with more expierence will be able to shed more light!

If you want it to sound like the APS exhaust, then build it like the APS zorst!

The note will only sound as good as the mufflers you use! (not saying the pipes dont chage anything).

I think someone said it was hard to fit the 3.5 over the diff.(dont quote me)

I've got a 3.5 dump and 3.5 metalcat, centre muffler removed and 3.5 spilt to std over the diff. When I first got it I couldn't stand the sound, but now its got a bit of carbon build up it sounds ok!

My car is still very BOOMY when towing the Boat! but is quiet with out towing!

I'll get a straight through 3.5 centre muffler then split to twin 2.5 over the diff and decent rear muffler!

good luck

the aps is as follows

3" dump into cat 5" overal dia

3.5" back to muffle just in front of the diff.

splits from muffler into twin 2.5 over diff and into rear resonator/muffler, twin 2.5" tail pipes.

And when they are right, they sound great, at full noise on boost they sound like a jet.

mine at the momment sound sh*t cause either the cat or a muffler has sh*t it self.
