Worpor,

I have also feared the bad finnish on black cars, so I bought paint protection.

Have a look HERE at their products as they have a spiderweb/swirl remover and then seal it with glare.

I have spoken to many black car owners and they sware by it.

Black looks awsome, but it is a beiatch to keep it looking good.

Have a look to see what can be done to a black car ie: The mercedes in the Thread

As for your car, it can be saved. As for the quality of FORD paint. My oldman had all the swirl marks etc removed from his car (perfect) job. 6 months later they are back. He uses 2 sponges, 2 different buckets, washes the top half first, then the bottom. Does everything you are meant to do and still gets them. The quality of the clear is sh*t.

But don't despair, it can be saved.

I could not agree more Glenn, but you are referring to dealer sold ripoff products.

Paint protection like Glare is just like normal polish, but will last much longer.

For dark cars its a must have or you will be spending every weekend polishing and washing your car.

My car will live outside its whole life, so I need decent protection as I am too lazy to polish it every month. Glare is meant to last 5 years between applications.

I told my dealer that I was not going to put down $1200 for their protection pack as it is only worth $500.

Ford black is shocking, I drove a Tornado ute on saturday that came off the truck and it was covered in swirls, it had not had any dealer prep yet either...

As for the product ZAP talks about I have heard it is very good, there are also some other Teflon products that have proven themselves, its just a matter of finding the right people to apply them!

The best way to prevent swirls is pressure clean first and also dont use sponges, regardless of how man you use they catch the dirt, get something like a bowdens own wash mit:spoton:

I had a similar problem on my Monaro I am currently selling. The dealer buffed it and did a crap job. In the end I bough Mothers seal and glazer which took care of the swirl marks followed by Mothers Canuba wax. All applied with a hand polisher and polished off with microfibre cloths. Now the paintwork is amazing. All up it cost me $130 including the cost of the hand polisher.

dont use sponges.use quality wash mits and change them regularly.if you want to try and fix it yourself try hand polising.I have used magires products with success.they have a large range including swirl remover. it may take 3 or 4 steps to get rite.I think you need to finish with a good wax like gold class to help protect it. hard work.I will never buy a black car

I'd say your chances of another car are slightly less than zero. I had a black AU XR6 and had the same problem, showed up hundreds of tiny little marks and was a b**ch to keep clean. I think it goes hand in hand with black cars.

I had a problem with my AU as well, Hard to keep clean but when they are they looked great, wont buy black again but like looking at other peoples in that colour.
