Hi all

Some dumb questions:

1. What is a K&N filter?

2. What performance increases (if any) does it bring?

3. How does it boost performance (if indeed it does)?

4. How much do they cost?

5. Anywhere special to buy them from, or any old auto shop?

6. Are they an appropriate purchase for a Typhoon?

Thanks!

1. What is a K&N filter? A freer flowing performance filter

2. What performance increases (if any) does it bring? slight approx 5rwkw on the T as dyno tested, however combined with other performance mods it contributes to a complete package to help the flow of the car.

3. How does it boost performance (if indeed it does)? Slight not noticeable besides slightly better throttle response

4. How much do they cost? anywhere from $100 to $175 (Get them on sale)

5. Anywhere special to buy them from, or any old auto shop? Yep

6. Are they an appropriate purchase for a Typhoon? Yep

I would not think twise about buying one if I plan to do performence mods, however if I didn't plan this then its still a decent buy but not at mandatory.

Won't do anything for performance. The computer in the T/Typhoon controls the boost pressure and will not allow a pressure increase over its programmed limit. By installing the better flowing air filter you allow the turbo to work a little easier, but it won't increase boost pressure and therefore no extra power.

If you are going to mod the intake system, you really need to do the lot (Air filter, Intercooler, Hoses etc) and get it tuned (psi increase) for the better airflow.
