Nicely engineered and it all fits together and will produce the results your after. macka

Posted 03/02/06 08:48 AM Share Posted 03/02/06 08:48 AM You forgot to mention that a aps 300 rwklw kit is equal to an Edited 260 rwklw T which will cost you about $1700 and no gearbox mods as compared to $10k + you also did'nt mention the gearbox and valve springs need to be upgraded more $$$$Your just a typical salesman talking and cant be trusted LONG LIVE THE STOOGE : <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Try driving 300rwkw without any gearbox mods no matter what you use to tune the car. Same will be said about valve springs. You just dont listern do you I said an Edited T with 260rwklw=300 uni-jiped and with 260 rwklw you get the auto pressures increased with the Edit which Aps where charging $880 for this mod alone + most of the time you can get away with not having to change the valve springs at this pwr level and if so you replace the cat Did that sink in Mr my T's worth $85k

Actually I've had 2 very quick XR6T's and never had a kit on either. If I was going to start modding an XR6T now here is what I'd do if I'm aiming for 300rwkw's.1) If 6 spd man I'd strengthen the clutch. If auto I'd have the box strengthened and have a trans cooler fitted. I'd use Kewish who have done all my work. 2) As long as funds allow I'd do all the power mods in one hit to save on tuning costs. Each new mod will require a retune.Enhanced fuel delivery- 968 injectors and an inline fuel pump. Fit a surge tank if you can afford it.Remove centre muffler and get a high flow cat. If budget doesn't allow gut the cat.I'd do a similar CAI as I have with a pod filter in the front guard. I'd go with either a Rajab, HPF or APS cooler and get it plumbed as efficently as possible.I like the Nizpro plenum and if funds allow I'd get one of these too.The most important part is the tune. Obviously I like HPF and wouldn't go any where else. In Melbourne you also have Nizpro who do good work. There's also Simon in WA.With the tunes you have 3, hee's what I'd get.1- Detuned, max 3000rpm with minimal boost and power.2- day to day tune, 98 ron 300rwkw's3- fun tune, 98-100ron with a booster. I wouldn't go past 320rwkw's without doing internals. The other thing I would do is fit the best rear tyres I could afford. I have the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's and they are awesome. This might not be what other people would do but it's what I would do and would probably cost less than a kit and give as good or better performance.Geea. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I agree with most of what you said, but you forget there is more than one tuner in Perth. Barry Batten from BPT Motorsport does tuning, and I do a heap of free-lancing as well. We probably don't advertise as much as the others.Frankly, I think the power up "kits" are a scam. I'm making between 330-340rwkw with the following mods:4" SMB dump pipe4" SMB cat3.5" Exhaust system with 2 mufflersAutoSport Engineering tube and fin intercooler404cc/min Bosch InjectorsBigger fuel pumpBA GT-P valve springsMal Wood Stage 4 clutch kitI sourced these parts myself and had people I know fit the items that I couldn't e.g. clutch kit and exhaust system. When people ask to see in the engine bay all they see is stock looking setup. It's the ultimate in stealth and makes a mockery of some of the kits available selling for $8k to $10k, which exclude the driveline upgrades such as clutch or auto trans strenghthening. Same will be said about valve springs.APS were making modifications for cars before you even knew what a car was You have no idea as usual.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Been there, done it, and still doing it, 308 last time I checked, but is soon to be more, STOCK BOX, STD oil, 66000KM yep Sixty Six thousand KM so far.about 15 runs down the strip, and still going, if you drive with half a brain, std components will be fine, but like manufactures have to, so doeas APS, they must cater to the LOWEST common denominator, the dumb ass who will belt his car from day one and b**ch when it dies.I would like to upgrade the Auto, but so far its fine, and will wait till it shows signs of Dying. If I had my choice of what to stick on a car, this is it. Assuming an Auto T with no mods.1: Edit and custom tune $1500.2: Cooler $600.3: fuel pump $170.4: APS exhaust $1700.5: 968 injectors. $540.6: Typhoon CAI and K&N $230.7: Cooler for Auto, $100.Now I can and have fitted all these bits myself so there is no labour besides the tune, this is waht my car has and is easily sitting on 308rwkw waiting for a tune to go further.total cost $4840. PLUS fitting.if you want to go further, you will need plenums, springs etc.CHEAP HP and lots of fun.
