Just had my 30k service done, and at the end they backed the car into a wash bay over a speed hump, I watched the entire service. As he backed it in he hit the brakes and the front spoiler slammed onto the concrete making a loud noise and scratching the spoiler. I approached the service manager who told me there was no paint on the concrete. He could see through all the muck on the ground bearing in mind my car is black. The guy driving said he heard nothing, I then said I heard and saw it happen, end result they will fix the scratch but infered that I was a liar.

No more service work at that dealer, car is having a touch-up on friday, I hope they know I'm really fussy and wont except poor work.  :tease:

I'd say they would have already worked out that your really fussy as you sat their and watched the entire service.

3 1/2 hours

It's amazing how these mongrels can deny everything and keep a straight face when you actually saw / heard it happen.

I had a similar indident with a Hyundai dealer in the ACT when the car had clearly had the front tyres smoked up. The tread was all carved up and there was a coating of rubber and oil inside the guards and bits flicked up the fender and even the rear view mirrors.

The two mechanics that worked on the car denied all knowledge and responsibility and the service manager swore blind that his boys wouldn't do such a thing. Yeah right.

I eventually got them to replace both tyres.

My father had just purcahsed a new Fairmont Ghia Tickford, after a few weeks, and many empty fuel tanks, it was diagnosed that the trip computer estup was wrong. To fix it they pulled out the dash, whilst doing this they smashed the windscreen. They replaced it, not a problem, but left all grease marks on the roof lining, and the broken glass scratched all the leather on the dash.

Went back in for repair, this time a guy jumps in the drivers eat with a screwdriver still in his back pocket and tears a hole in the leather, it is an endless drama.

Heaps more things.

Yup, possible faulty fuel sender unit in our car. Picked it up, it had a scratch on the roof (likely from a watch from someone leaning in the car), grease marks on the passenger door trim panel, photocopied instructions for installing the fuel sender unti left in the car, fuse panel cover left on the back floor, and the baby seat not put back in the car. :nono:

So switched dealers for service/warranty work and had front spoiler gouged on the hoist when replacing a broken engine mount! But they gave me no grief and organised repairs and gave us a loaner for a couple of days.

fmd - some of those servicing episodes are scary.

Not in the same league as the others above, but it peeves me when I jump in the car and the seat adjustment is all wrong and I have to readjust it again to the way I like after a service. I don't suppose you can get around that without resorting to memory seating positions. Besides, you don't want them driving awkwardly during the test drive and damage the car because they weren't sitting in it properly.

Something doesnt sound right though... how close were you to the car when you heard the noise?

I'm not disputing what you have suggested happened, but merely thinking outside the square and posing a question.

The stone guard protrudes lower than the front bar, and if the brakes were hit and the front of the car dipped down this is what could have hit the concrete. I cant imagine he was reversing too fast, and I would have thought the front of the car couldnt dip that low under braking. I know I have crapped myself on a few occasions when I have heard that sound, and then realised it was just the stone guard.

But if you saw the front bar bottom out and hit the concrete then I'll jump back in my box :spit:

Yeah I've heard of that happening before to (In canberra), some dude walks in off the street, goes to the key cabnet (which are never locked) and picked up a set of keys and presses the unlock button (showing exactly which car he now has...)
