I dare say the guy who pinched fuel, on purpose had an attitude and was a different situation to your brother.

I'd hope. It's not a nice condition to be in.
The guy has probably jumped out of his car and gone to smack the sh!t out of the cop. The cop is by himself, how did he know he wasn't going to get bashed within an inch of his life, for doing his duty to the general public??

I still maintain hobnails and a bobby stick would have been just as effective if he didnt have a weapon :pooh:
Why oh why Lumpy to you take this lefty richeous view on Everything??

Cos I do, It's me. I make no bones about it. Never have. :spoton: Anyway If all you jackbooters kept agreeing with yourselves you'd just get bored :spoton:
If the guy had any respect for common decency, he would have paid the servo for the fuel. They make 3c a litre on the fuel they sell. $80 takes a while to get back..

Very Valid Point...damn
Loosen up a little.. maybe get a root..

I would, but DBoss has saleens mum booked out for the next three weeks :nono::pooh:

I will assume, because that's all you can from such an article, that the situation, somehow became very serious ( obvious you say, when a guy ends up dead )

Perhaps the petrol pincher attempted to take the policemans gun, who knows what happened :spoton: We can only guess.

For me, not enough information to make a judgement either way.

LP, IF your brother was a big guy and the cops was small and by himself, I would say that he would be shot not beaten.

While it is sad that someone lost their life over $80 worth of petrol, he inflamed the situation by attacking a cop.

It is just a pity our socioty is going down the drain with all the violence.

It is also a shame that our cops are not armed with several means of non leathal weapons like stun guns, pepper spray (I think NSW has it) and beanbag shot guns.

I bet if a crim was charging down on a cop, he would hit the deck with 50,000 volts of tazer in his chest, far better than 2 bullets.

I do not envy the position the cop was in as he will live with that memory for the rest of his life.

Being a cop is a thankless job made worse by todays societies lack of respect for them. It doesn't help when the courts let the crims go with *beep* all penalties.

Anyone that attacks a police officer obviously has a complete disregard for the law and is a danger to society. If I was the cop, in the middle of no-where with a crim punching the crap out of me I would have shot the f*cker too.

Geea. :spoton:

LP, You always have the leftie view on things, this is what we love about you

If you choose to got head to head with a cop, expect to come worse off.

Scum need to understand that.

I feel sorry for the cop and the crims family, not the crim.  He made his choice and lost, one less scumbag in the world....no loss

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I agree... but at the same time why couldnt he just put a couple of bullets in the guys legs to disable him??

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

When cops are trained to shoot a weapon (and the defence force for that matter) they are trained to shoot at the centre of seen mass. This will disable your enemy as effectively as possible with the least amunition used. Any attempt to shoot a limb will ultimately result in a wasted round and your enemy being closer than you want them.

And... there are no such things as "Accidents" with guns... poor training, poor handling practice, idiocy... all reasons for a gun to be fired. Ultimately it was the officer's responsibility regardless of how it was fired.
