I doubt he was shot for stealing petrol, maybe for attacking a lone policeman.

As said, we dont know the details, so we cant jump to a conclusion. However,if the situation has escalated to the point where the man has a weapon pointed at him and has been told to stop or be shot, he makes the decision. And I know because ive been there.

And also remember accidents happen, unfortunatly when weapons and struggling/fighting are involved the results can be fatal.

havent read the story but saw on TV that the other bloke attacked the cop and punched him in the face twice... looked pretty beat up on telly.

Still no reason to shoot someone :kissmy:

If you are attacked, you defend yourself. That is what a gun is for....

The dead loser just forgot the saying that you should never bring a knife to a gunfight.

One less in the shallow end of the gene pool. Sorry, cops are beaten up way too often and we are too quick to judge against them.

This bloke was shot for taking what? $80 worth of petrol at the most?

Great to see how little some people value a human life

I remember a few years ago a guy got stopped for speeding under the Tonkin Hwy overpass. Driver paniked and pulled a gun on the cop and shot him. Cop pegged him back..

The guy had a large quantitiy of a white substance in the car.. Unknown to the coppa.

Who knows what happened. ppl don't usually get shot for nothing... usually..

So if he punched the cop then it's a fair bet he didn't have any kind of metallic weapon.Otherwise he would have pulled it rather than punched the officer.

Police have self defense and "close combat" training, right?

Police have a billy club and steel caps, right?

One wonders how far away old mate was when he was shot, he was obviously past arms reach as the officer could easily pull his weapon...

Break his nose, beat up on the crim for sure, in fact I'd encourage. But shooting him? That does seem a bit extreme.

Basically what your saying Ian is taht if some nicked an $80 vase from my shop and then punched me, I should have shot them?
