On standard injectors screwed to the max the car is obviously dangeroulsy lean.....

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Agreed, although some tuners seem to think that having cars running mid/hi 12 AFR's on pump fuel is quite ok :innocent:

I wonder how long an engine would last running flat out with AFR's like that

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I know I said this before but Nizpro have tuned easily over 100 cars with their AFRs being mid to high 12s. How many do you think have blown up? Zero.

im thinking of buying new tyres and maybe some chrome valve caps, what advice do you guys have, do you need dyno sheets to help chose correct tyres for me??

I will book it in for a power run asap as the new tyres might make me run lean....

Look I am no expert , far from it  It seems one thing is being assumed by far too many people.AFRs are not a static measure , They fluctuate in relation to changes in the parameters that are driving them.eg revs, boost and where it comes on etc dependant on the tune.

Just because AFRs are deemed to be safe in the mid range does not mean they are at full boost , full RPM over extended time and do not necessarily allow for variances in fuel quality ambient conditions etc. As Eugene stated there were cars at the Newcastle Dyno day that the owners thought were running safe AFRs only to find out that they were leaning out up top where it really matters :spoton:

It is ok to quote AFRs but no one states at what revs and what boost. Haven't seen many Dyno graphs with a static and flat AFR reading. Personally Iwould prefer to see some more juice up top and potentially drop a few RWKW. My opinion only

Attached is a graph whilst I was scaling some injectors. From the graph you can see the AFR's - almost 0.6 AFR difference between the 2 runs - with around 15 minute intervals - and a difference of around 1-2kw. The intake temps were showing 34 deg C, and the data logger recorded an intake temp around 140 deg F taking 9 degrees timing out. My testing has show a difference of 4 degrees timing makes a difference of approximately 25rwkw.

Note the rpm scaling is not quite accurate, however it's good enough for illustration purposes.

I prefer to run my car below 12.0 AFR over 4000rpm where peak torque and power are made. It helps keep exhaust temps down.

ok I dont want to enter another war as I have done this with street  tuner before...

but with viks tune (auto)...he got 240 odd rwkw rwkw on his everyday map... and 277 on his toluene map... pretty good for an auto. What afr's does his car run on the race map?? can we see this.

now with a manual trogh lollie is claiming 270 odd rwkw's on everyday map (seems reasonable??)... and 302 odd on his toluene map ?? what gain should he see on his car from his 274 odd when his tune is adjusted to suit toluene?? taking into consideration his car has the following??

ASE Intercooler

3.5' Metalcat

2nd CAI under headlight

Custom tuned edit

K&N Filter

another question:

considering that viks car has 2nd cai and centre muffler removed only... 277 seems pretty good .... with the above mods in addtion would vik gain anything??

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Get your facts right :gooff: That useless tuna, that wouldn't know sh!t from clay only managed to get 271 RWK!!!

vik...and that's on BP ultimate, tolly only goes in on track day :gooff::spit::crybaby:

enough.

968s, Nizpro springs. .

if I was to get the same mods as troughie and iclude the above, as well as F6RAPIDS dump pipe into the equation...I would be looking at a potential 300+ rwkw monster on BP ultimate??

Easy. My ute made exactly 300rwkw with no exhaust mods (gutted cat) and no springs, different injectors, pod filter.

From my experience they stick to around 12.5 at the most from 3500rpm and up.
