He assured me the turbo CAN be fitted with the 2300kg Tow Pack. He also said that the cars come standard with a transmission cooler, so this option would not be required. ColinT Donating Members 372 Member For: 19y 11m 3d Posted 30/01/06 11:24 AM Share Posted 30/01/06 11:24 AM I believe the limiting factor is the turbo engine.A N/A 6 and the V8's can have the 2300kg towpack with the 4 speed auto.The entire reason Ford put the 1600kg rating is because of the restricted airflow into the radiator caused by the intercooler.This was in an Autospeed mag test drive of the XR6T when they came out.I still have the article if you want it. The Transcooler would be good aswell although I dont have one of these.Mick<{POST_SNAPBACK}>The 4 speed auto cant be the issue as the box is basically a strengthened N/A box which is rated to over 2000kg.The issue will be the heat build up in the turbo as it will be on boost at low speeds. The original Saab turbos had a problem with this and used to melt the paint on their bonnets.I occasionaly tow my 1600kg boat and it always sounds as though it's struggling - However, this may well just be the the fact that the exhaust (std) is always "booming" when under the load.
