Hey Guys,

Im in the market for one.

Whats the towing rating for the XR6T, and how well do they actually tow with t6he IRS?

I will be towing on average twice a month, less than 100kms, with boats between one to two tonne with brakes.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I understand they have traction standard which would help on a slippery boat ramp.

Regards

Darren

XR6T is only rated to tow 1600kg.

I've had no problems with towing trailers, but never anything really heavy like boats or caravans. Can't help there...

I was told the ute was rated at 1600kg and the sedan at 2100kg. That's according to a dealer anyway.

I've tow my 20ft Camero Strada, it's about 1600kg inc. trailer. the T tows it better than any V8 Late model camira I previously owned (better on fuel too). I do have a big PWR trans cooler which is essential for regular towing.

BEAUTIFUL car to tow with. :pinch:

The IRS tows well. With my N/A XR6 I towed a car trailer with 1800kg's of farm equipment in it, 5 blokes in the car over 200kms and it did it well. Have also towed a 21' Hallett Charisma plenty of times but never any more than 30kms trailer has no brakes and never had any dramas with it either.

When in doubt, google it! :spoton:

From www.ford.com.au BF XR6T Accessories page:

"Maximum carrying capacity of 1,600kg (auto transmission) and 1,200kg (manual transmission)"

Heavy-Duty 2300kg Towpack is "Not available on XR6 Turbo and XR8"

If you have a BA XR6T, then it's 1600kg limit on both auto & manual.

I tow my 19' Stejcraft with ease, one trip being 300km each way, with the boat fully loaded with gear equating to well over the 1600kg limit.

Slippery boat ramps have never been a problem thanks to the combination of LSD,Auto tranny and a steady foot.

I do not have a tranny cooler yet, but certainly should have especially with the extra power and torque from the EDIT :msm:

I do tend to accellerate gently to spare the tranny, but still pass everyone up hills :spoton:

Here is a photo of my rig. post-5570-1138486442_thumb.jpg
