Hey Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies.

If it doesn't appear white is not a no-no for re-sale, I will more than likely buy the car, if it's not sold.

The car is ex Government, but not police it appears. I will find out it's exact origins tomorrow.

I will only do around 15-20K per year, so that's why im not too worried about k's. It will take me a long time to rack up the 200K my current car has!

Cooltint, I may be in need of your services soon!. Can you let me know which tint company you represent? I recently had the partner's Mazda done at Mastertint. They did A good job but I think were expensive.

Will keep an eye out for the first cruise, I'd love to attend.

Regards

Darren

Dunno about an XR in white - I think they suit the darker colours best. The colour may not affect the resale too much, just make it harder to sell. The tinted windows should look good - maybe change the mags to dark grey?

Hmmm,

1600kg legal is a bit limiting for my needs.

Found out this morning the car is ex cops, but doesnt have reverse sensors or upgraded brakes. It has an aerial hole in the roof and small holes in the console. These things wouldn't be too hard to repair or cover up.

Why else would an ex cop car not be a good buy for that price?

Would the remainder of the three year warranty still be remaining?

Would the motor have any other alterations for more power?

Which way to go?

Regards

Darren

There's no reason it wouldn't be a good buy.

Yes.

No.

If your going to be towing heavy loads frequently then maybe a XR8 would be better for you.

And white looks sh!t hot with really black tinted windows.

The best colour is the one your happy with, the only one I would not go with is mence, yuk!

If you go for the most popular colours soon you will get sick of seeing that colour on nearly every other XR you pass. They are just too common, that's why most blueprint and shockwaves are turned into trannies,

white looks hot on the XR6.

as for the the ex-cop car.... if your worried about resale dont buy it... I would personally never buy an ex cop car... so yes, been an ex cop car it does have downsides...

maybe there is nothing wrong with the car but still some people would never buy an ex cop car (im one of them)... I tend to believe that if you dont own the car and get to take it home everyday, you will not look after it as well as you otherwise would... cop cars fall into this category. and a cop car with standard brakes?? wonder how much life they have left after 50thousand k's??

Fowles have buy it now versions with varying K's, some as low as 30,000 for that price. At audtion they are cheaper again.

I did hear that cop cars are not a good buy, as sitting idling for to long is not good for a motor (from various sources) could be old wives tale though.

The warranty thing, in my Subaru owners manual it clearly states in writing that a car purchased from Auction does not have factroy warranty. All cars have the 12 month/20,000km statutory warranty by law, but the additional 2 years and 80,000kms is not a requirment, only a gesture by the manufacturer. I would check up on this.

Having said that, if you can wait another couple of months, maybe less, BF's will be turning up at the same price.
