xr6 Member 96 Member For: 20y Posted 28/01/06 05:41 AM Share Posted 28/01/06 05:41 AM Finally got sick of the Dunlop SP3000s after 35,000 kms (not bad for an OEM tyre but noisy and strange transient steering response sometimes). Decided on a set of Goodyear GSD3 F1s, went to my local dealer who happened to have a set in stock and agreed on a price. But when he went to fit them, I noticed that they were made in Australia. He assured me that this was the first Australian set that they'd had, and he got on the phone to South Pacific Tyres (I live in NZ) Turns out that they normally import all of the sizes from Germany, but had got a container from Australia when they ran out before Christmas.I didn't know that they make the GSD3 in Australia - anyone know what sizes? Just 235/45-17? Are they as good as the German GSD3?I ended up with a set of German tyres, but am just curious about whether I made the right decision. And they're strength is meant to be on wet roads - can't wait!

Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>$260 each for 17s. The SP3000s weren't worn out - I think that I would have got at least 60,000 km from them. (I do a lot of mileage sitting at 110 km/h on motorways) I don't expect the GSD3s to last as long as they feel like a softer compound.
